End of Virgin Contract and notice period

Just received the Virgin reminder that contract expires 27th Nov 2022. Definitely want to switch providers as they don't provide the service I pay for.
Looking at the email it states have to give 30 days notice. Surely if contract is expiring, you can just cancel on that date?  Am I incorrect?

Your "contract" is your minimum period (which may be code for "discount is ending").  Doesn't mean the service will end.  It will continue until you give 30 days notice.
