EDF DDWA(M) in credit after bill, what happens next ?

Hopefully I'm understanding the situation correctly. I changed from Budget Monthly DD to Whole Amount DD at the beginning of October when I was reasonably in credit.
October's bill was less than the credit so the bill amount was deducted from that, and then the £66 added to it. I'm expecting November's bill to also be less than the existing credit so a similar situation will arise.
December's bill may well exceed the credit amount so then there will be a direct debit of the balance from my bank account.0 -
That would probably be the way it will go.Fairzo said:Hopefully I'm understanding the situation correctly. I changed from Budget Monthly DD to Whole Amount DD at the beginning of October when I was reasonably in credit.

However, on my screenshot it says quite categorically WE OWE YOU, that is why I am wondering what they will do.0 -
Yes, I have the same and the £66 was added on 4th November. I just read it that I am owed but it's held as credit. It may well be repayable on request but I don't feel it's worth the hassle.The_Fat_Controller said:

I do have some sympathy for the OP's concerns on this as EDF are not the greatest at managing WAM DDs in my experience. For the brief time I was set up for this method, they chose to ignore the credit accrued on the account over the previous 6 months of budget plan payments in favour of wanting to take a DD for the cost of the gas USED over those six month, plus standing order obviously. it was one of many reasons why when the chance to switch to Octopus came up, I positively leapt at it!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

So they owe you. This is true. Surely they will just continue to owe you until the point where they are forced to do something about it, or when they no longer owe you.The_Fat_Controller said:

I’m not really sure what the problem is here. There is x amount of credit which will go towards the next bill if that bill is less then the credit will keep rolling over until it gets to the stage where it’s all gone & direct debit needs to be started to be paid again. It’s not as if it’s going to disappear. Never to be seen again0

Any reason you have ignored this reply from MWT? It is the correct answer btw.MWT said:If your monthly use remains below £66 the credit will continue to build up until the £66 payments end in March, then your subsequent bills will begin to reduce the balance you have accrued.Until the balance has been used, there should be no DD payment taken. They will not refund the balance as they are obliged to keep it for use against your energy bills.
