Moving house - different energy supplier - will I still be able to access old energy account?

We're moving house next month. Our current energy supplier is Octopus & I have already let them know the date we are moving. Will I still be able to access my Octopus account online after we've moved, or should I download all the bills etc beforehand?
I know I need to set up an account with the new energy supplier at the new house - my intention is to switch back to Octopus as soon as I know the new supplier has the correct opening readings.

I wouldn't expect to be able to see bills and readings for my old house once I'd moved, as that account would be closed.
Having said that, I don't know how Octopus handle it - I've never closed an account with them.1 -
It's always best to keep a copy of every bill anyway. You never know when a company will suddenly decide you owe them money, sometimes years down the line and then you have proof of payments.3

There's no need to do this and may confuse things. The supplier at your new house drives the changes. Your give them the meter reads and bank details when you move in.KittenChops said:We're moving house next month. We moved in July but didn't move into our new home until September. I had a good, 24-month fixed rate deal with no exit fees with Eon next set up in March until 2024. I contacted them and confirmed in writing that I could take this with me to our new home before we moved out.
Our new home was with British Gas who would only put us on their variable rate. It took about 3 weeks to transfer back to Eon and about 6 weeks for them to take over the smart meter display
They also reset the 24-month deal from November this year.
Your supplier will start a new account for your new address but you will still have to pay the current supplier until the switch takes place.2 -
Thanks everyone for your replies - I thought it was unlikely I'd be able to access the online account, but I will email Octopus & ask, and then post the reply back here.0

We moved 12 months ago, old home was with Octopus, on a deemed contract with British Gas at the new home, switched to Octopus again and all previous information and bills from the old home are still accessible.

Can’t you just download your recent bills?KittenChops said:Thanks everyone for your replies - I thought it was unlikely I'd be able to access the online account, but I will email Octopus & ask, and then post the reply back here.I know there’s a lot of admin when moving house, but this is a 5 minute job.2 -
Yes I can - and that's likely to be the answer. (But if I would still have access to the online account I wouldn't need to.)badger09 said:
