At my last house there was no channel 5.
Nor where I am now actually.

Anyway, postcode lister said "yes". it lied
    I bought a digi-box. Nothing.

Aerial fell off the roof, I got an aerial man round. He said in my road it was variable - some houses had it. Some didn't. And in the next road some got it only some of the time.

He said it was the lie of the land causing it. He went onto my roof with a signal meter. He declared "no signal".

So, channel 5 at my old house was never an option.

Now trying to find out why I can't get it where I've moved to.
Getting a freeview box for Xmas so have to see (hope) I can get it then.

Thank you everybody. We discussed all the options and decided to buy a freeview box. For some reason I had got it into my head that we would need a new TV as well as a freeview box, which is why I was so resistant.

OH is very happy now! Thank you again.
