Just wondering if anyone has taken advantage of the £200 opening a new HSBC advance account and switching ?

it stats

You will not qualify for the offer if:

  • you've had an HSBC current account since 1 January 2019
  • you've opened a first direct current account since 1 January 2019
I might be being really stupid here but I’ve had a first direct
account for about 10 year so 2012 ..
can I apply as It says you will NOT qualify if you’ve opened an account since 1 Jan 2019 ?

It would seem you do qualify for this offer, although I'd scout the small print just to confirm that a First Direct account doesn't qualify as a HSBC one (I'm not overly familiar with how HSBC is structured so I don't know that).
  • Thank you, I did find the full t&c s this morning …
exactly as your saying so I can now crack on …

Is it possible to apply without the overdraft? HSBC are known to be difficult, that would increase the odds of success if the option is there.

I believe you have to qualify for a minimum of a £1000 overdraft, but how much you actually take is optional. There's certainly the option to pick the amount (up to the max offered) during the application.
  • Hi all, I tried to open a HSBC Advance account, unfortunately your monthly income has to be £1750 or over.  Shame it doesn't say that from the before filling in the form!

The £1,750 requirement was removed a year ago https://www.hsbc.co.uk/content/dam/hsbc/gb/pdf/notice-of-variation-terms-and-conditions-and-charges.pdf

They are still quite picky, if anything by removing it they can refuse you if you earn >= £1750 and you can't argue that you earn enough.
  • Rather than starting another thread thought I'd ask here - hope that's ok.
Was just about to apply for the HSBC Advance Account to start to offer, and the eligibility says - 'you’re not an existing HSBC customer', I have a HSBC credit card, does this mean I am not eligible?

My income of £1100 per month was accepted. I also didn't qualify for £1000 overdraft but was still paid cashback within a week of opening the account.
