Gas bill calculation EDF

Can anyone explain this bill to me? I haven't used any gas. (No heating on and no hot water either) so the standing charge is applied £12.04 that's fine, but then there is some maths applied to convert the gas used into Kwh. Total is the £43.16. But I haven't used any gas to convert to Kwh?

You haven't been charged for any gas. The total gas charges is just the sum of the standing charges.
Your subtotal is gas + electricity - gov money.0 -
Thank you. I knew I was being dumb...I just couldn't see why!!1

Am I right in thinking that the government payment has been deducted from the OP's bill? If so, why do EDF refund ours into our bank.
Seems strange that they're doing two different things? But I may have read it wrong. As others have said, they're not easy to understand! The important things in life are not things ........0 -
Maybe it depends on how you pay. EDF do have a poor billing system, not helped by the fact that they only bill every six months for people on fixed DD payments. The OP has had their account credited by two amounts of £66. Maybe they’ve also had their DD reduced by £66 or £67.funny.money said:Am I right in thinking that the government payment has been deducted from the OP's bill? Yes maybe..... I do agree about the 6 month billing, I've just switched to full amount monthly, luckily we're able to do that and it's made me feel much better, knowing where we are with what we're using. I know others are really good at working out their own figures, not me so much!victor2 said:

The only problem with variable DD is that you could be paying 3 to 4 times more in the winter months, because it's not averaged out over the whole year.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I thought EDF were not refunding the amounts to customers banks for Direct Debt Whole Amount, just crediting your account on the first week of the month instead. Effectively taking that amount away from your bill when they collect your variable DD later in that month?funny.money said:

@Sharongroves1408 You need to edit your opening post - replace the bill copy with one that has your account number (begins 671) and MPAN blanked out. @victor2 I don't know if you can help, I tried to report the post to ask mods if they could do it, but the "!" didn't pop up a box to add comment.
Edit: I tried the "i" button again and this time it worked.
NB. The MPAN is the "S" number in the box. Also meter numbers in 2 places in the bill.1
