buying an old farmhouse that has solid walls and roof with barn. Need replacing windows, doors, electrics, insulation and plastering with a new kitchen , we will not be living there till the major work has been carried out but struggling to find an insurance company that will insure us. Any advice would be helpful.

FLEA insurance is more common than you think. I've used GSI in the past but there are many others.
