Shouldn't EON Next have reduced my fixed rate tariff - still at 41.952 p/kWh
Hi,
I thought from reading the articles on here and also on EON Next's website that electricity consumers on fixed rate tariffs should have had their rate reduced in line with the EPG. I switched to a fixed in August but my rate hasn't changed. I managed to get an email back from them after trying on the phone, whatsapp and twitter with no response but they just said:
There's been no adjustment for the EPG at all?
Thanks for your help!

I switched to a fixed in August but my rate hasn't changed. I managed to get an email back from them after trying on the phone, whatsapp and twitter with no response but they just said:
Current charges:
Day rate: 41.95p/kWh
Night rate: 26.43p/kWh
Standing charge: 36.19p/day
Prices include VAT and EPG discounts where applicable.
Also, I've had no bill since September and with regards to this they said:
I have tried to issue your latest bill, however we have been experiencing technical problems to issue the bills ,please kindly note you will receive your statement shortly.
I've also tried to register with their online community but get an error and when I raised it, they just said we'd look into it.Here are my tariffs from either my bill or their website when the bill was unavailable:

| Apr-22 | NextFlex | 32.548 | 17.024 | 22.953 | |

There's been no adjustment for the EPG at all?

I've found Eon.Next to be very, very poor at responding to emails & queries about current tariffs and the EPG. Despite their claim that they would be contacting all customers that are negatively affected by being on a fixed rate above the EPG, I've not heard a darned thing... And the last time I checked my account, the Next Online V19 rates were listed. However, I have had a bill for October and can confirm that I have been migrated from the Next Online V19 tariff to the NextFlex. This means I am not paying any more than I need to, and they also made a couple of goodwill payments that effectively covered my energy usage for the month.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Welcome to the forum. Are you on Economy 7? If so, your effective weighted average rate is 35.43p per kWh. This still seems a little high for a DD tariff, but might meet the EPG if you're paying by cash/cheque in arrears.N. Hampshire, he/him. Yes, I'm on economy 7 and pay by DD. Oh I see if they're using a weighted average then it would work out around 36.8p/Kwh. I've actually just had a message back on twitter and they said I can move to a single tariff if I want which will be 7p cheaper. I'm not really sure if this is the best thing to do now as I will presumably lose my fixed rate which could be cheaper from April? Also, we have an electric car on order and was going to charge overnight on the cheaper tariff.1

Hi Logic1001 ... On the 58:42 E7 night:day split your tariff is the equivalent of a single rate of 32.95p per kwh, as I calculate, so below the EPG. So two things: (i) I don't understand the E.ON's 7p cheaper comment, and (ii) I think your night rate should be reduced.
As an E.ON Next customer on Next Online v9 my night rate was reduced from 16.842p to 14.74p as per Next Flex (Eastern), I would expect yours to be the equivalent; I received an e-mail on 26th Oct informing me that my fixed tariff had been reduced to the EPG from 1st Oct (even though my single rate equivalent was already well below the EPG).
I concur with the lack of customer service. In my case their lack of knowledge re. the 'off peak' discount (dynamic pricing), load block alpha identification, and (as in your case) the failure to reply to e-mails and not having produced an October bill due to "a system error".0 -
You are probably better off moving to Octopus GO if they will let you move without an exit fee.Logic1001 said:Yes, I'm on economy 7 and pay by DD. I don't know what you've calculated, but 41.95 * 0.58 + 26.43 * 0.42 = 35.4316dealyboy said:Hi Logic1001 ... On the 58:42 E7 night:day split your tariff is the equivalent of a single rate of 32.95p per kwh, as I calculate, so below the EPG.(i) I don't understand the E.ON's 7p cheaper comment
Their single rate tariff is a little over 34p/kWh, so (very roughly) 7p/kWh less than the OP's current day rate.
This will depend entirely on the OP's current day/night usage, plus their expected addityional use due to the EV, plus whether they use stored heat; they might struggle to get enough energy into storage heaters on the 4-hour cheap rate period you get with Go, vs. 7 hours with E7.michaels said:You are probably better off moving to Octopus GO if they will let you move without an exit fee.N. He calculated the wrong way around, 58% night and 42% day.QrizB said:

Hi QrizB ... first point, sorry you are quite right I did it the wrong way round :'( ; second point you are right but importantly its not 7p less than their weighted average.QrizB said:

They offered for me to switch to NextFlex at 35.06 pKw/h for day and night. I've moved over to that for now. My fixed period ends in June and we won't be using the EV charger until April so I think it makes sense for now. I'll re-assess our needs closer to the time. Thanks for the help. Much better service than EON

Your fixed tariff will not end in June any longer, it has ended now with you moving to their SVT (NextFlex).
