Item sold last night, printed the lable and paid for royal mail tracked 48, £2.85, my local post office is shut Saturday afternoon but there is another that is open until 10pm so I walked there, when they scanned the lable they got a message, post office cant accept contact royal mail.
Anyone got any idea why, what may be wrong?

Tracked48 can't be accepted at Post Offices, it has to be collected by RM or dropped off at a RM Delivery Office.

See How to Buy and Post section.3 -
Collection from your house is free at the moment. If you go back to the RM site, can you add collection to the order so the postman picks it up?Alternatively you can drop it off at a RM delivery office, but some of these now have very limited opening hours - mine is 8-10am on weekdays.1

this is a pain, I accidentally clicked on the tracked 48 option this week as I was only really looking at the price.
it was too late before I noticed so I just thought I'd leave it out for collection (despite the fact I go past the PO everyday anyway, and was already going that day with 3 others)
next day I get a notification saying they couldn't collect my parcel as nobody was in! normally my postie drops stuff in the parcel box at the back door and thats where I leave stuff for collection, but I guess it wasn't my normal postie that day. so when I got home I just voided the label, made a RM 2nd class label and took it to the PO myself the next day.
I think the free collection is just a bit of a nuisance, I'd rather just drop it off myself then I know it's done. when sending stuff outside of ebay and buying postage directly from RM it's not easy how to figure out to just print a label and drop it off yourself, it just keeps pushing the "free collections"

It comes up on the PDA that there's a safe place once they start the collection process. I've had one fail as no one home despite the safe place being added (not the usual postie) which was a pain but if you haven't added the safe place a postie who isn't always on the round obviously won't know where it isIn the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

Just had a parcel dumped when I went to complain the online information was there to the postie can now choose a safe place without your permission. I was less than impressed given that it was left in sight of the street which is not my idea of a safe place. They are meant to leave you a card telling you where they left it, but that didn’t happen either.

Unfortunately my usual post person appears to have been transferred elsewhere and I now have a series of temps who seem unable to grasp the concept of either a secure safe place, or indeed a letterbox.
I’ve tried asking them and things get better till the next temp starts and then it’s back to square one. Complaints to the delivery office don’t seem to be making the slightest bit of difference. I have an ongoing saga unfortunately.
But I was posting just to say that the safe place doesn’t have to be agreed anymore, which I did find a little bit surprising. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
