Credit or Debit Card as a backup

I'm going to Germany / France on a short break. While I have what should cover me cash wise, if I do need to use a card is it best to use a Credit or Debit Card?

Neither is inherently better than the other, it all comes down to which ones you have, as some are more suited to non-sterling spending than others, so read through the MSE guide:

As above.If you need one in a hurry then I believe Metro Bank can do either/both as you wait - means visiting a branch of course - and there may not be one within convenient travelling distance.Both are good for France & Germany, however they are only "user friendly" in SEPA countries.Turkey is one popular destination where fee free benefits don't apply.
