Octopus Gas, why different price on bill?

My tariff I thought I was on with Octopus is not what I am being billed for. I’m supposed to be on just over 10p per kWh but being billed nearly 14p!  Does anyone know what’s going on?

  • Presumably your bill also has a line for the government EPG discount?

Are you saying the tariff on my app is after the discount?

the tarrif on your app is the rate set by the goverment after the discount. so logic would suggest the other tarrif you've given is the tarrif without the discount (and the rate you would pay if the goverment decided to scrap the guarentee tomorrow).

the only number that really matters is which rate they have used to calculate your actual bill (you should see somewhere on your bill the number of units used times by the tarrif you are being charged).

and its the detail on the second page where it says 'energy used' that matters

what numbers do you see on your statement there?

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

  • Hi,

Please note: prices on your online account and app don't display the Energy Price Guarantee discount just yet. We're updating this really soon, but you can find your discounted prices in your individual email from us, and on this page.

My electric said my usage was charged at 47.7p, 50.085p Inc. VAT, when I first glanced at my October bill but the next line reassured me when it said 17p energy price guarantee.
Someone please tell me what money is
