Motorola Razor v3 ... views?

Hi there
Am just about to get round to my yearly replacement of mobile phone and was looking at the Razor. It's for work purposes, so I'm not that bothered with all the multimedia stuff (so no, I don't want MP3 playback or video recording before anyone chirps up with this kind of advice)...
What I'd like to know is, in the opinion of users of the V3, is it easy to use. My only concern is that that software and operation of the phone may be disappointingly mediocre - like the last Motorola I used (about 4 years ago).
Advice, please!

The newer motorolas are pretty easy to use. Not as good as a nokia but still pretty good. The only thing I am wary of is one of my friends managed to break his in two. Looking at the v3 I don't think the hinge is as robust as it should be. However if you put it in a decent case and look after it I think you will be ok.
Hope this helps0 -
I've had mine for about 2 months now.
I find the Operating System to be a little slow sometimes, and I still prefer the Nokia txt'ing engine. I can often out txt the phone, and have to wait for it to catch up with all the key presses.
The one annoying thing I've found, is that the keys attract grease etc... which upon closing the phone, prints onto the screen. So when you open it again you have a map of the keys in finger grease on the screen.
On the plus side, the sound quality and reception is better than my old Nokia, which struggles for a signal in my house, whereas the v3 has no problems at all.
I too didn't want mp3, camera etc... I just wanted something small with a decent battery that looked nice. It definitely looks good, and has a reasonable battery (which can charge of usb), but it's not as small as I'd ideally like, it's just a fraction too wide.
Overall, it's a good phone, although I've always wondered if I would have been happier with something else. The Orange C500 was the other main contender for me. Best thing is to go into an Orange shop, act interested, and play about with one see what you think."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Liked mine but was a biut clumsy too and didn't like the keys always being dirty, apart from the better tech spec I prefer my D500 much easier to use and much more like a Nokia (in layout, etc.). HTH.2p off is still 2p off!0

Well I have my V3 now and i love it but the major downside is cingular will not insure this phone. I have called my own insuarance company and they will not either (unless it burns to the ground or is hit by an earthquake, or flood). I also called Motorola and they were not help. Does anyone know someone who will insure the V3? I am afraid to take this thing out of the house.
Thanks,

Got a brand new V3 (black) and love it. I've had nokias for 5 years, and frankly i think their current range is bulky and ugly. I love the V3 - the design, the call qaulity, the huge screen, the fact that everyone else is jealous of it..... even down to simple things like having "normal" ringtones (i like my phone to sound like a phone, not like the rubbish you get on Samsungs!). The new texting style takes some getting used to, and the phone really picks up dirt and grease off your skin - you'll find yourself cleaning imprints of the keypad off the screen a lot!
I do miss the flashlight from my Nokia 5140, that was incredibly useful. And the lack of stopwatch/countdown timer is criminal.
Other than that, i'd give it 4.5 out of 5
As for insurance, i've got insurance from my service provider, O2.

I spent 3 hours calling people about this and I am SOL. Cingular is the only wireless company that will not insure pda phones. Such BS as they are advertising the V3 like there is no tomorrow, but there are people like me that do not realize we break it we buy a new one ($400).0

Just seen an ad on tv, looks quite snazzy, and has a free bluetooth headset with it at the moment too - moneysaving bonus!! But I suppose if its a work phone, cost is probably not your main concern. Ive never used it personally, but it does look rather nifty, and although you dont want to hear it, I quite like the mp3 function on my phone, saves having a handbag full of gadgets that fall out on the pavement and break if I swing my bag a little too hard whilst strolling.... (this happened to my sunglasses two days ago - not best pleased to be honest!)
