It could be that your system require balancing. You could get an infrared thermometer (a forehead thermometer would do at a push) to check exactly how hot the radiators are (aim at the top middle) but tbh I don't really think you have a much of an issue.

Is it just a few radiators that are "too hot" or all of them?

Also, you don't have to stick at 60C, take it down further, try 50C.

I haven't got a thermometer but the upstairs radiators are much hotter than those downstairs.

My radiators are too hot to put my hand on for more than the time it takes to realise they are very hot.  They have always been like that.

My upstairs radiators are definitely much hotter since the work was done and it's the change that is making me feel uneasy especially considering I've turned the radiator temperature dial down by 8 degrees.

Turn them down to 50 and see if they are still boiling to the touch.

I'll try that another day cymruchris, my heating is off now for the evening I'm way past my usual number of hours for having it on.

    You need the system balancing.

A medical thermometer is unlikely to work because CH water is at a much higher temperature than a human body. You don't balance radiators by checking temps over the panel, you adjust the delta across the in/out to be, usually, 12 celcius. You shouldn't reduce the temperature of the water below the design temp (which is generallyn too hot to touch) otherwise you'll greatly reduce the efficiency of the boiler and increase your bills.

A lot of them, mine included, have two modes, one for body and a mode for surfaces.

Also, I never said that's the way to balance a radiator, I was clear that it was to check at just how hot the radiator was getting.
