Cifas marker

As long as they can prove that you are you, and that you exist, you should have no issues getting a basic bank account.
You didn't answer the previous question I asked around any recent history on your credit files? Do you have any active accounts of any kind? Or is absolutely everything closed since the CIFAS marker was applied?
Are you on the electoral roll?0 -

All of your closed accounts will fall off the history 6 years to the date they were marked as closed, but it's good that they are settled and marked as satisfactory. So there's no other negative markers other than the fact everything was closed abruptly.
Depending on how long they took to close everything down once the CIFAS was applied will give the new financial services providers more or less to go on.
You can't see the marker - so you'll not be certain is off - but it will be removed 6 years to the day it was applied.
Do you know the actual date it was originally applied?
Banks see an instant live snapshot of your history - we don't see the same data on our own files as it only gets updated monthly.
Personally I'd probably wait until the 1st of January and then apply to be sure. I'm sure you're keen to get things back to how they were, but for the sake of a fortnight, I'd feel better hanging on just a little longer.

If you apply too soon, and the marker is there, there's a strong chance the account will be closed shortly after opening. Better to sit tight and not try to rush it.0 -

You have said that the credit reference agencies have told you the marker will be removed on the 31st of December - so if that's the day they remove it - you can apply the day after. They won't close an account after a marker is removed - but you're intimating that you want to open an account before the marker is gone. 1st of January is your account opening day.
Or did you mean that the bank account you had would be removed on the 31st of December?
There may not be a 'hard search' but there'll still be identity and other basic checks completed, you can't just say your name is 'Noddy' and you want to open a bank account, and the banks say 'Oh yes no problem Noddy come on in here's your bank card'. I imagine they check EVERYONE for CIFAS markers no matter which account you try to open.0 -

Given you have online accounts. Don't rush in for a basic bank account, wait a while.Life in the slow lane0 -

There might be exceptions though - you could check out the Nationwide Building Society FlexBasic, or the HSBC Basic account
If you aren't on the Electoral Register at your current address, now is the time to get this done. Banks and credit card providers will check there.0 -

To be pedantic, it hasn’t “literally” been like torture.0
