Sorry, just needed to add something else about the all electric (white meter/ E7)
Best way to find out what you're using is turn everything off, then turn it back on one at at a time and see what whizzes your meter round, that's what I did initially, I confess i've become rather obsessed with the electric in this house.

Made good reading actually. Made me think - and I rent all inclusive but a little awareness and consideration helps the World go 'round

We agreed the kids could go to the cinema on orange wednesdays tomorrow, but no-one had credit on their phone to send off for the text! So went to the newsagent and spent £20 on credit (they will need it when they go to France anyway) plus bought BOGOF loo roll and a reduced ready meal and so total spent today including the earlier £1 = £23.77
And I was doing *so* well!!
In my defence, we did walk to the shop in the rain instead of taking the car, thereby saving my precious petrol!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hello all and I am really, really pleased that everyone has come 'through the bells' in such positive frames of mind! Mumzy, I am proud of you for getting things sorted out and sticking with it - how's the no smoking going?
Electricity - the dreaded power bills. Here's how obsessive you may become whilst taking part in this challenge. I'm on E7 with Scottish Power at the moment and last bill, the first one I received since moving house, was estimated - grossly UNDER estimated, I might add!
I have a chart - date - night use - day use
I check the meter first thing in the morning and read the night rate
I check the meter last thing at night, after the day rate finishes
I have charted the units used and raked out the old bill. (Previous to this, I had a prepayment meter on E7).
Before continuing, I would like to say an extra thank you for allowing this discussion as I already TRIED to get answer in the thread that is supposedly for electricity and gas items - I won't be going back there in a hurry!
Anyway, your bill should tell you how much your units are costing - mine are just over 10p per day unit and about 4.5p per night unit, plus standing charge, plus vat. So, when I think of 90 days (quarterly billing) at, say, 20p per day + nearly 5000 units night use @ 4.5p and about 1000 units day use @ 10.4p it looks like I can expect the next bill to be... about £350 plus the underestimated amount from previous bill!! :eek:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Happy new year all! I'm going to go and write dwn my outgoings now so I've an idea on what I can save on, makes it quite difficult when I'm not sure what my income is! Then I'm going to work out how to change my signature as I've also joined the mortgage free challenge and I've my own personal challenge of staying up until at least 10pm, the holidays make me so lazy!!0
