Hi Mel,
Personally I think if you have debts and are buying a PS3 it should count as a 'present' and therefore come out of your target amount (if only to encourage you to cut down elsewhere).
I'm not being judgemental, just know that I will need all the help I can get not to overspend so this is what would work best for me.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Hmmm
yeah maybe I should do that....I know i'm naughty getting it but, I suppose if I do it that way then It will spur me on to make cut-backs somewhere else.
I forget also, am I meant to be counting the car costs in my budget amount or are they excluded...i can't remember, i have been reading so much about this challenge....

Can I join please with a target of £5000 for the year for 2 adults, 1 child, 3 cats, 2 guinea pigs and a marine tank!0
-
Hi
Could I possibly join in too please?
I haven't done any sums and don't know what a realistic budget would be, but I know that a £4k target will certainly help me to 'downsize' our current spending - and that must be good.
Many thanks

Mel,
Car costs are only counted if your car is a luxury and not a necessity for work. I use my car for business so I count most of my car costs but have not included any fuel.
Could you perhaps look to having a refurb PS3 (don't know if they're too new still to get refurb ones) to keep costs down?
And presumably you have a PS2 or similar, if you sold that or some of your old games you could justifiably take that amount off your total spend on the PS3.
Other new challengees - welcome. Nyk will assign challenge numbers:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Mrs Doyle,
Get your monthly budget. Look at post 1. Cross out anything that is not counted in this challenge. Total up the remainder and multiply by 12. That'll give you a yearly target to start with...:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Thanks WW, i will include car costs then. We are looking to barely use it so fuel should be very little and am changing to PAYD ins too. I would get rid of it but we camp in summer so use it for that. I will also need it for next sept when i start my PGCE.....cars eh, we're so dependant on them.
