First of all, breath deeply and think hard before you answer the following question....
    d i d ... h e ... p a y ... a n y ... m o n e y ... f o r ... i t ? If it was a freebie worth £60 then maybe you could turn it into a productive little sideline for friends and family! Do you have a garden shed? :rotfl:

Yes, he did pay good money for it. And, according to him, its a bargain
No, we don't have a shed yet. We have Insurance Money to buy a shed, and we have put a deposit on a shed but we have no shed  We were promised that it would be up and running at the beginning of the week but apparently there is a national shortage of floorboards
This is why my kitchen looks like something out of New Yankee Workshop :rotfl:

To those of you who like smoked food, send me your addresses and DH will be on his way with smoker in tow :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

mini_huny_money I am so pleased no-one in my family was into motorbikes. DS2 is a mountain biker and my kitchen was always full of bike bits. He commandeered my kitchen scales as he used to shave bits of metal off the bike to make it lighter.
After he went to Uni I had a few years of a tidy kitchen and then I met DH who is perfect apart from being the most untidy person on the earth. :D

Today is going to be a BIG SPEND day but will not affect teh budget as its all Insurance Money. Did suggest to DH that we could save it but his little face crumpled :rotfl:

So, compromise. As the money came to me as the Policyholder, I'll transfer a lump sum into his account and he can replace whatever tools and toys he considers necessary to make him happy. The rest of the money I will put into a high interest account so we (I  ) can decide what needs replacing and what doesn't.
Need some Araldite to repair lid of slow cooker.
In days gone by, I would just have gone and bought a new one so lessons are being learned :T

This thread is turning me into an agrophobic. (not funny if I really was one...not a pleasant illness). I'm taking some odd days holidays and have talked (mumbled) myself out of various outings. "you don't need milk, you've got long life cartons in the cupboard, you don't need a newspaper, you can read online etc etc" The upside is more decluttering and reading and best of all, I've been within my weekly budget since this thread started.
To all the members who joined and want to quit, please keep going, your posts are so inspiring.(and funny).

    Hello fellow frugalites:D
Only a teeny weeny line from today as am on my lunch break. With regards to the broken coffee maker. Mine bust after 15 years good service just as OH was made redundant. I was so terrified to spend anything at that time [rabbit caught in the headlights syndrome] that my solution was to dig out a ceramic jug from my cupboard and invest in a 35p tea strainer from Wilko [check that it's a smallish mesh]. Ever since then I've made my coffee in the same way as you'd make tea and continue to do so.

Don't anyone feel bad about not completing this particular challenge - health and happiness, in my book, should always comes before wealth. In all honesty, I was amazed at how many people joined in at the start as it is really a lifestyle choice and certainly not one that suits everybody.

Shelley, concentrate on getting your health sorted out and we'll all hope that it's a 'February downer' that's contributing to they problem. Spring is just around the corner and some extra sunshine is always a boost. :)

Mumzy, you do the same. You have had to deal with so much over the past few months that you really need to figure out a lot of stuff to see which direction suits YOU best.

Everyone is welcome to post here at any time if it is connected with frugal living, moneysaving, cost of living, budgets and debt payments. You are welcome to participate at whatever level you feel best suits your own needs, even if it is just to see how others live. :D

Don't forget to drop in and say hello now and again, so we all know you are here and, in return, we'll try to provide some free reading material and frugal, lighthearted entertainment. :T

On a different note, and in the wake of yet another 'episode', please take care not to include anything too personal, political or religious on here as some people are finding it offensive.
I reserve the right not to spend.
