I got more free stuff!!!!!!! (well, i had to 'invest' in a 9p bag to be able to cart all the freestuff home) i got -
3 packs of rolls
2 x bread
1 x party snack thigies
1 x scones
there was more bread but this was the maximum amount i could fit into my freezer
i will price it all next time im in - i think i will start keeping a running total of lidl freebies for the year!
Thanks for all the laundry tips everyone! I will put them into practice once iv used up my powder stash
frugal timeshare i think we should club together for the bunker - i love how its advertised as a one bedroom cave home!!!!! (ps i am only half kidding)
NS CHALLENGE i was convinced my big shop today would push me over budget... BUT by a curious miracle its came to EXACTLY my monthly target - its just begging me not to spent for the rest of the month!!!
does anyone want to join me for a 'spend no more in feb' mini-challenge? go on....you know you want to.....:jThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Sorry Jumble-Bee, I had something more nautical in mind for us.
We could travel around the country, marauding un-guarded coastal branches of Lidl for free booty, yarr0 -
Good evening Frugalites.
My day out ended up being rather expensive (for a Frugalite)
Its 80 miles to my friend's house and when I got there (having braved Arctic conditions not to mention the fog  ) she wanted to sit and chat. I weighed up the fact I was going to miss out on my bargain shopping against the temptations of the big city and decided sitting by the fire, drinking coffee and having a girly catch up was a better option.
Unfortunately, as lunch time approached, friend said "I'm not sure what to feed you so shall we go out?"
My brain was shrieking "No! " but my traitorous mouth smiled and said "Great
"
So off we drove to a nearby garden centre which has a great cafe. I knew I was doomed. I bought:
Twisted Hazel £15 ..early birthday present for my Mum.
2 Mugs @£6.99 each ....Mother's Day present for Mum
3 Red Dahlias @£1.29 each
6 Begonia corms @ £3.98
Then lunch £5.50
If my Debit Card hadn't been in my purse, I would have been safe but I always carry it if I am going any distance.
Then, got home and realised DH was still at work and had taken key with him so had to do another 14 mile round trip to get the key off him.
When I have recovered from the shock of parting with money, I will update my budget and reassess my spending for the rest of the month.0 -

Rats! someone's beaten me on the 'sea views' aspect for the alternative living accommodation! Sorry, I can't beat an oil tanker at sea :rotfl: How about someone buys that and the bunker and sets up a new frugal holiday company. Instead of Butlins or Pontins, we'll have Fruglins :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Good evening - didn't get on last night, stressed from Brownies by the time I got home I just wanted comfort telly and bed (luckily I had some leftovers just needing heating up for tea - the days of take away are over!). Can't wait til Sunday evening when the thing I am stressing over will be done with (for better or worse).
Anyway2 Mugs @£6.99 each ....Mother's Day present for Mum
Anyone else got good ideas for mothers day? I can't think of anything frugal or non-frugal. I never spend much anyway on mothers day - its just a token to show I remember her
. There's nothing she needs... we don't do sentiment in our family... I am not at all practical... it needs to be posted... All I can think of is looking for a really cheap little notebook - there's a Works across the road from where I work - and making it a bit more personal.
Any tips appreciated (and the good thing about a forum is that you won't see me go like
or this  or even :silenced: if a tip comes that I don't like). ((There was a lot of :silenced: on Monday evening)).
Jx
Ps you've got me dreaming of my "grand design" now - obviously a couple of years of this and I will be able to build the perfect house and retire... :rotfl:Toodle-pip :hello:0 -

I would love to join you in this but there are 3 of us here and I'll need some odds & ends before the month ends. I thought I'd have enough for a £10 shop, but that idea got scuppered when I fell for the BOGOF Utterly Butterly this morning! Plus, I have a payment coming out the bank on the 22nd that I count in and then there's Mother's Day, although I may delay that and put in a surprise personal card delivery on the 2nd March. (It'll be a surprise assuming my mum doesn't visit MSE, of course! :rotfl: )
I'll try to curb my spending days to a minimum. This month's aim was to keep to half, which is ridiculous when you consider that means spending money every second day  Must try much harder next month!
Good luck Jumble-Bee :TI reserve the right not to spend.

FunBrum - :j A trip to the seaside! Decorate your tin with pebbles and shells - representing rocky starts, shelling out for stuff and, at the same time, setting it out in stone :rotfl: What a fab idea! :T I'm going to organise a trip to the beach, freeze my err, you know what I mean, and collect pebbles & shells to decorate my Billy Can.... a FREE work of art - thank you for inspiring me. (Must remember that removing items from a beach is, apparently, illegal. Must remember to stay within the tideline, then it's classed as beach combing
)
Will a trip to the SHELL garage have the same effect...? I seem to be spending a lot of time there!!Living a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T
