Hi all,
Today started badly with the cat getting locked in the lounge last night and doing a poo all over the carpet and walls!
However, things have got decidedly better as the day has worn on - my 'Frugal Food' book (cost 1p plus postage) has arrived and is full of good recipe ideas. Also in the post was something from the Teachers Building Society which I was just about to bin as junk mail, when glancing at the letter I realised that I had won £250 deposited in their Call Save account. I am over the moon and hope to add to it throughout the year.
Just off with grumpy son to do my mum's shopping for her and deliver pressies to nephews and nieces with January Birthdays. I'm only taking a tenner and no cards so I am not tempted in Mr S.
Have a great day everyone.0 -
I've never been to Ireland before but I'd love to visit the Giant's Causeway, so I've decided to make it another personal challenge - to go there this year and still keep within my budget
So far no spend day, I say so far as I have to take my DS2 to swimming lessons later and pass MrT's. Was going to be in budget for the month but have just received my mobile bill for December which is normally £15 but is £37 this month. I was in Rep of Ireland at new year and went onto an Irish network which costs 40p per text, unbelievable, I am so annoyed that £22 could have been used better elsewhere. Ah well, gurn over:pLive on a little over £4k challenge
Sealed pot challenge no. 3150 -
That's a good point about the beans - I'm currently playing the Drop a Brand size challenge with OH (I've removed the labels to prevent his pre-conceived ideas interfering;)) and so far he prefers Basics to own brand
I think it might be all the sugar though....Anyway, might have to get some of the 57 variety in while I keep working on him. Don't go to M. as it's further away - anyone have a clue what time they have good reductions please?
Have just gone back through my spending diary with a fine tooth comb and notice I've added in a few little things I shouldn't so I've readjusted my totals; another 15p a week to play with! Woo hoo! :T
Just wanted to let u know - I'm pretty sure I read on here that bargains can be had at Mr.M's after 9:30pm...:DLive on £4k a Year Challenge ~ #96 ~ £4000+CB ~ Spent:£702.53

Hi Penny!
I make a cream of veg soup regularily, it changes a little according to what I have in but basically it is:
1 lb veg (any or all of these will do - potatoes, carrots, onions, leeks, swede, sweet potato, parsnip etc)
1.5 pints stock
seasoning
knob bujtter
little milk
Peel and chop vegetables and put into a pan with the stock. simmer until soft and blend until smooth. Put back into pan and add a knob of butter and heat through, stirring, add milk and season to taste. this is our favourite way to use up vegetables from the organic veg box. Easy and cheap! hth
Hi, catznine. i have just made a big pan of that soup. it's is yummy, DS loved it, he can't eat much right now because he had his brace tightend up the oher day.
