Well, I have just done the snowball calculator and if I continue following that plan I will credit card debt free by May 2011  So I really need to crack down on this and make as many over payments as possible!!
This challenge has helped me find out where we spend the money and thinking about it before we spend it :T So a huge thanks to Nyk :T lets hope I can continue this and all my other challenges throughout the year

:hello: Hello! Everyone is doing so well, can't believe we are into week 3 already!
Another NSD here as well, I also cancelled the pot of yogurt from my usual Abel and cole order (have loads in the fridge to use up) and will save 75p when the order comes tomorrow! The free range chicken was roasted for Sunday dinner and then rest was cooked in slow cooker with some veg and seasoning to make 3 pints of stock which have made 2 batches of creamy golden chicken soup, rest of the meat made 4 chicken rissoles which oh loved and there is enough chicken left to make a tomato and chicken pasta bake for tonight, no wonder it is called "rubber chicken" Sundays dessert was baked apples filled with mincemeat and marzipan and cooked in mulled wine in the slowcooker, which took care of some of the leftovers from Christmas!;)
Has anyone else noticed just how much you are starting to appreciate all the "stuff" you have acumulated? Not being able to go out and spend has meant I have spent time sorting out cupboards and wow! what a treasure trove I have found!
Sorting the airing cupboard out I found 7 bars of soap that I popped in there a long time ago to harden up (they last longer that way) half a gallon of shampoo bought from a cash and carry long ago, a lovely shawl which will keep me warm while at the computer and a lovely duvet cover that is much too big for our duvet but will be wonderful to use for sewing projects over the year.
Downstairs in the kitchen at the back of a walk in cupboard I found a lovely vintage earthenware casserole dish, some lakeland soup bags, an unopened pack of the lakeland green plastic bags that you can keep fruit and veg in for up to 3 weeks! and best of all "the Lark Rise Recipe book" lots of preserve recipes in and even one for making beeswax polish.
I don't feel the need to spend (also avoiding the adverts on tv) will just go sort out another draw or cupboard if I do!:D
Still waiting for those large dd's to hit though!

Hi everyone!:D
Nykmedia, thanks, I did get all the Whiskas packs I could lay my hands on (OH even found a full one chucked out in the street!) but haven't seen any other offers. He's alright on the pouches but hates the tinned kitten food, lol; wants to be a big boy like our other cat! I've told him about growing up too quickly/ missing out on his youth etc but he's not listening...:D I didn't sleep v well last night either unfortunately but I've got MSE to keep me happy! Sounds like our end goals are identical! I love the idea of the wish book (is that what it was called?), can you tell us a bit more about it? Maybe if you put them in the book they might see it and that would help...? I nearly got a couple of pygmy goats that were going free at school a few years back, but sense prevailed on that occasion.
Mollymop, thanks for the Quorn tip - just been on the phone to mum to find out where the nearest Asda is, might stock up too (if I can find some freezer space)!
MHM, glad you felt you could come on here for a moan, hope you feel a bit better today. I belong to Lose Weight (now 18) if you want to lose some weight, nice bunch over there (haven't been on the other ones but I hear they're great as well).
Oh, just seen you're more upbeat almost immediately, well done you!
ROFLing at the weight loss plan Nyk! :rotfl:If you do want to join in with another of Nyk's crazy ventures, then Freecycle is the place for lots of free gym/exercise kit at the mo. Also, if you join the Times online fitness club (it's free, of course) you can get a free pedometer. Haven't done it myself but will find the link if anyone's interested.
Ha ha, loving the DIY snip kit :rotfl:My OH just got more BOGOF condoms too! No snip for us though, still want to have kids yet/:eek:(at the expense!)
Jacks, and everyone else, it is SO important to find some time for fun things; with my limited energy I fell into the trap of constantly doing everything that needed doing and never doing anything I enjoyed. It really gets you down, and it was only when I was ordered to create a balance by my specialists and say 'to hell' with some of the jobs that I reassessed. I still find it v hard to do but I'm getting there.
COLOR=DarkOrchid]Today is a NSD as the weather here is horrendous if I went out I think the kids would actually get blown away [/COLOR At least you'd save some money if they did (only joking!)
It's going to be a spend for me today I think as I'm going into town and we need a few things (most importantly honey for honey, lemon and ginger to keep me well). I'll try not to spend anything else, unless there are some absolute bargains.
Have a great day peeps, ignore the weather, wrap up warm and dream of how you'll use the money you save this year. Or start a wish book like Nyk for what you'd like to do once you're debt free :jxxThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

This is the same item I got for christmas - told you I was a 'posh bird' :rotfl: Or maybe everyone just got fed up with all my bits of paper and scrappie notes lying about the houseI reserve the right not to spend.

Well, I've spent 80p on a bag of sugar today  but don't plan on spending anything else. I should be working but have been clicking back and forth between here and my new spreadsheet for keeping up to date on winnings, freebies and bargains buys. Got another freebie in today - 2 x Orange SIM cards :T
Jacks that is a really impressive update! Interesting about the leccie as I do the meter readings twice a day and we are averaging err.... 80+ units per day at a ratio of about 60 night time to 20 day time. We're on E7 with Scottish Power and the house, which is very drafty, is all electric with storage heaters. I just changed the plan to online saver and got extra discount plus a lower unit rate. If you decide to switch companies, don't forget to use a cashback site or request a cashback payment before agreeing to the switchOh, and your poor hubbie!! Whitewing you are awful! Very funny, though!! OUCH! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Janey, you LOST 102lbs in 2007? That is absolutely AMAZING!! You're welcome to join the frugalites gym here on the 4k challenge - it's free and all we are doing is counting steps by pedometer/stepometer or miles/kilometers/calories burned if you use an exercise bike etc. Could be quite a laugh. I may need a new pedometer if mine doesn't work with a new battery - I accidentally dropped it down the loo!!!
DJJoJoJuice - welcome to the mad house! I think that should make you number 118 and I'll update post 1 of this thread so your name's in the list of challengers. Good luck, have fun, please don't blame us for any temporary insanity you may experience and addiction to this thread is par for the course. (£3836.07 for 50 weeks) :TWell done Fizzel! Your official coming out day as a frugalite! Yeah!
Princess Leia - That's brilliant news! This challenge really does work but, as I keep trying to emphasize, it is a complete lifestyle and one that is very, very difficult to get back out of without therapy - and retail therapy just doen't work on this one!
Bails - My wishing book could end up looking like a kid's animal story book mixed with an edition of Country Living and Horse & Hound thrown in for good measure. Perhaps I could cram in a copy of the 'Smallholder' magazine too. :rotfl: Must write it up to date and get more piccies added into it...
Picture of a field, picture of some woodland, a duck pond, a cottage, a woodburner, an AGA or Raeburn type cooker, ooh, maybe I'll start on the interior design and collect samples of flooring, wallpaper, paint, borders, fabric etc... at least if I tire of the decor I can just tear out the pageI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I agree with this; it is so important to have some 'me' time otherwise it can become easy to resent having to do some things.
Not a NSD for me sadly. Even though we have horizontal rain here on Sheffield it was not enough to deter me from buying a bag of crisps that I desperately needed to get me through the day30p spend so far.

afternoon everyone! :hello:
I'm a bit late catching up today as I had to go for hospital eye tests with ds3 this morning, we have both suffered for the cause today as we walked there & back in very wet weather to save the bus fare & when we got back home I realised I had forgotten to pick up a prescription from the hospital pharmacy that I left there last week  So I dropped ds3 back to school & had to walk all the way back to collect it & walked another mile to the Tesco cashpoint which is free (the nearest to us charges £1.95) then home again, my feet are killing me!!! So I reckon I've had a head start on the fitness challenge now!
I just made a proper cup of tea (tealeaves not bags) & read your post Nyk in which you thought I was organised & it made me laugh after what happened today! But thank you anyway, I am very flattered that I come across that way
Its my biggest spend day of the week & I will alter my siggy in a bit when I have had my cuppa
Hope everyones having a good day & I like the wishing book, its lovely0
