Game is ON! Pedometers at dawn on Feb 1st :rotfl: :rotfl:

We'll show them with their flashy gym memberships, gleaming lycra leotards and fluffy pink legwarmers (no offence to anyone here with a membership to the gym - this is the frugalites' alternative :D )

Bring on the MSE Free-cyclists and the pyjama-walkers - we'll go for a combined inch-loss of a foot! Choose your teams.

If we can't lose a foot between us then there'll be no reason to get legless at the end of it!

Don't panic, I have about 95% of a spare foot here, so if you're really slim and just have a fat-complex then you only need to lose 0.6inches :D
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

 I need to have a proper catch up with everybody later, but for now I'll just update and run. :o

Bought £49.09 worth of my staples.

    PLUS

Replaced some Herbs, spices, worcester sauce, soya sauce and stock cubes etc to the tune of £7.21

Bought Braising Steak for the goulash I want to learn to cook this week £3.69 (Anybody got a favourite Goulash recipe they’d like to share?)

Bought what I hope is at least 6 months worth of shower gel for £9.92 (500ml Sanex on BOGOF at Tesco)

Bought 24 condoms cos they were BOGOF too! £7.98

Bought a new tap, £16.99 (now we have slightly odd taps but hey ho! The old tap is 50 years old and I don’t have the time or the money to trawl through reclamation yards to find its identical twin. )

Bought a new immersion heater £16.99

and a tool to fit it with £2.99

    £114.96.

    Not bad for Day Four!

    £9885.14 left - 361 days to go!

    Love Jacks xxx :D

    Latest update Day 15

    Prescription Pre-payment Certificate £98.70

    Supermarket shop £74.16

3 pairs of 33" inside leg jeans for my daughter for the 200 or so days a year she can't wear her school trousers. (well I s'pose she could...! :D ) £60

Hubby's Birthday present of two new work shirts and a bottle of brandy £50

MILs Birthday present of a £50 M&S voucher. (Not optional unfortunately) £50

Birthday presents for my daughter (so far) £11

    Supplements, vitamins and painkillers £8.99

6 months supply of shampoo (hopefully) £5.94

    Roof repair £116

    = £474.79

    £9885.14 - £474.79

    = £9410.45

Oops! I almost forgot... plus monthly DD's for gas, leccy, phone, internet, home insurance and TV Licence £195.90

    £9410.45 - £195.90

    = £9214.55

OOh - and bus and train fare to see my grandmothers. One of them is currently in hospital two buses and a train away from me so it's costing more than usual to get to see her, plus we're also clearing her house out bit by bit, and still visiting the other Grandmother- whom I still haven't taken to LIDL yet and I promised before Christmas. :o £160

    £9214.55 - £160 = £9054. 55

£9054.55 left. Day 15, 351 days to go. Weekly allowance after DD's and travel have been taken out £78.62

    Love Jacks xxx :D

PS I forgot to say that we're pretty much using 35 -37 units of leccy a day, every day. It doesn't often vary much at all, and it doesn't seem to matter whether I can't sleep and I'm up all night or anything even though I have a light on and the computer or telly probably - and the kettle, plus I usually do a couple of washes to get them out of the way as well since I'm up!

At the end of the month I'll fill out our useage at Uswitch and see if we could save money by switching.

Hi Nyk. Yes, Atkins is the low carb diet which received a lot of bad press but it does work for my OH. And he is already at risk because of his weight which is now over 26st and causing him a lot of heartache not to mention joint pain. Like me, he has struggled with his weight since a child. Lucky me had a gastric bypass in March 07 and have lost 102lbs!! My aches and pains have almost gone and my blood pressure is normal. I also eat very little now so hopefully that will balance things out with his more expensive diet.
I should add that his GP is fully supportive and keeps a regular check on his blood levels to make sure he's OK.

    Day one of my challenge.
Going to try and spend nowt to give me a flying start.

 Well sadly, we've probably got six months worth of those as well as 6 months worth of shampoo and shower gel!:rotfl:

I got all excited when Mumzy said I could get them for free but our local clinic only caters for under 25s and by the time I'd got two buses to the one for old fogies like me I may as well have bought my own. :o Especially when they're BOGOF. :D

I keep telling hubby that if he had "the snip" he could save us over £16 a year but that doesn't seem to be enough motivation for him. :D :rotfl: (Aww bless!)

Maybe I won't tell him what I've been talking about on MSE today...? :o

Jacks, put a bow on a pair of scissors and download Beethoven's 5th Symphony, and tell him it's the official way OR the MSE way, lol!

I start Ice skating next week so that will be £11 each week. A lot I know but it for 45 mins lesson & practice then 3 hours of open session if I want. Had looked at other places but they were either just the lesson, not getting back to me or mix adults & kids which I didn't really want.

You've got to have *some* fun honey haven't you? And it sounds like you're getting good value for money.

I think part of the reason I've been feeling a bit fed up is that I work, "click" eBay, Mystery Shop, cook, clean, do the laundry etc and it's all never ending and none of it is very much fun!

I need to find something I enjoy doing that's nothing to do with moneysaving, debt or my blimmin' domestic duties! :D
