We closed the doors on entry to this extremely, exclusive, completely wacky challenge at New Year. However, you did say, 'please' and you have put a picture in my mind of a lollopy teddy bear that looks fun to have around, so I shall go and squeeze you into the challengers' list on the agreement that you promose to live a frugal life, pay bills before savings and behave like a lunatic in the company of fellow online 4k challengers
Welcome to OUR world - where every penny counts, even if you find it on the pavement :rotfl:
Has everyone checked post one to make sure their names and targets are listed?
NYK WACKY HINTS & TIPS - Don't think of what you spent, focus on what there is left and budget it to last a year.
Tick, tock... only time will tell how well you have budgeted :T
Thank you very much. I promise faithfully to live a very frugal life this yearCross my heart. *goes off to create sig*
Jan 1st was a total non-spend day.
Today my direct debit for Healthy Pets club (pay £7.99 a month to vets and it covers all flea and worm treatment, vaccinations, weight checks etc. for free throughout the year. Works out a bit cheaper and it isn't a sudden big bill) and TV license at £11.61 left my account.
Total: £19.60
Also milk at 92p, Cling film at 69p and posted a card to USA so a stamp of 78p.
Total: £2.39
Grand total: £21.99
Not too bad, but I should be having another no spend day tomorrow!~ Lexie ~The Minimoilist.Saving money and the planet at the same time.0 -
Hi, great to read how positive everyone is being - I have 2 questions if I may
The first is to the person with the oyster card - We have them, but have never used them. We will be in London this month to visit IVF clinic and need to do the journey by bus - can I load the card before hand and if so how?
The second is how do people deal with kids birthday presents for parties - We are attending one in January, obviously arranged by hardened MSE people - 3 of them have clubbed together for one party!! So, 3 presents for 1 party - now call me mean...but this is going to cost me quite a bit - I bought the presents today, even buying sale gifts it cost me £13.97 - I dont feel I can be too mean - what do other people think?
I cant update my spends yet, as I rashly agreed to this challenge without working out my figures, although I know they are there or there about, I havent worked it exact yet

I'm one of those 'grab a bargain when it's available' people, so would normally rake to see what I had already. This is an obsession that has come about as a result of being in the, 'why are there always bargains when I have no cash' club for so long LOL Anyway, my 4k budget allows for £500 of gift shopping throughout the year (including Christmas) so I'd just deduct it from my overall total and readjust my weekly allowance accordingly.
I can't comment on Oyster as I hadn't heard about it before today
Have a good time in London and good luck at the IVF clinic!
OK, g'night all, I'm off to take the late meter reading then go watch some free entertainment on TV
NYK WACKY HINTS & TIPS - Never turn down a freebie, no matter how ludicrous it sounds, your gift horse might just turn out to be a winner. At worst, you can [STRIKE]give it away[/STRIKE] sell it if it's uselessI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Just a real quickie...
I looked at www.spendingdiary.com a while ago and dismissed it - considering it too simplistic for my (ego) complicated life.
Oh, the lessons we learn.
However I have just signed up to use it for the sole purpose of tracking my expenditure whilst I am at work. I work in the City and it is frightening how one can just pop out and voila, £15 is suddenly gone.
However, now I am running it, it's fun!! :j
Day to day; week to week; month to month, I can see what I am costing myself whilst I am at work - brilliant!
Talking of work, I'm there now so signature / spend updates will need to be updated later - must dash!

£5.00 for me today. Registered and deposited the minimum with Foxy bingo. It means though I get 2000 piggy points with Pgisback which means I can get £20 of Boots vouchers to spend on a few presents throughout the year.
