Flight delay compensation - full flight data

Options
Does anyone know if/where, as a member of the public,  you can get access to full flight data as on the LennoxFlight Intelligence database available to people in the travel/travel insurance business.   I'm claiming in court for a flight delay where the airline defence is heavy rain on the runway when there was absolutely NO RAINI'm presuming that there would be an  official log for a bad weather delay    Don't want to give too many details but I believe the real reason was refuelling as the flight was fully booked  .

I don’t think there is any open access.

Heavy rain/storms, can lead to refuelling issues and delays.

have you checked your flight details on EUClaim and bottonline? do they agree you have a valid claim or advise that there were exceptional circumstances?

Online websites agree it is a  valid claim.   The excuse of rain is an outright lie.  Investigation suggests that they had to refuel due to filling the plane to capacity, i.e. weight.   and the runway type.  The true reason is logged somewhere but appears to be a closed shop

Well depending on the date it may be easy to get the weather reports at the time of your flight and hours leading up to it.  That would provide evidence if there was or wasn't heavy rain.

You mention aircraft weight and refuelling, aircraft performance figures will vary on dry and wet runways as the safety margins are different.

If you give me details of arrival airport, date and approximate time, I'm happy to try to pull METAR (aviation weather) reports for you for that airport around those times and dissect these as necessary. This is generally quite easy to do. You can PM me if you'd prefer, however I don't need the flight numbers, only airport, date and times.

There are some aircraft limitations based on weather, however most of the time this won't apply. The only one I can think of on the top of my head at a UK airport that would be routine is Bristol on Widebody/certain A321 ops on very wet runways. This is mainly due to performance as takeoff/landing data has to be computed based on weather to allow for moderate aquaplaning and decreased brake/engine performance in such scenarios.

Do they specify which runway, i.e. was it the departure one or the arrival one?

It seems odd to be able to source some very detailed information like this, where would you get hold of that?

My understanding is that court processes will generally entail disclosure of any relevant facts, so if you believe that the real reason will be recorded on a specific named system, you may be able to request that this evidence be provided to the court?

Typically you wouldn't be able to.

An aircraft with (say) 230 seats and 237 people on board can easily weigh quite a bit less than one with (say) 154 seats and 161 people on board with different operators flying a comparable route within a few hours of each other, despite being the same aircraft type with the same engines. (Cabin crew requirements would be 4/5, plus 2 cockpit crew).

Just looking at the number of passengers on board won't tell you all you need to know about an aircraft weight as some carriers will carry some heavy cargo on certain routes (I flew a route a few years ago where 2 generators were loaded on board for example). The LCCs and Charters don't tend to carry more than passenger bags, despite their aircraft typically flying almost to capacity in terms of seats a lot of the time.
