The poor have truly fallen and been left behind in the gutter. The rich march on with their money bags of public-funded payments.
Not really, something like 99% of the public have received it this particular payment.

The poorest 5.7 million households (around 25% of the population) have also received a minimum of £650 in additional payments, which in some cases on its own is around 10% of annual income.

  • So the government recently announced that they would allow all those who were forgotten about to apply for the £400 energy rebate. My flat has a communual supply where I pay for my electricity via a coin meter and gas heating (on a fixed timer) through the rent.

However my application was rejected because they said that my address has already had the £66 per month payment. It looks like the letting agency/landlord has quietely pocketed that for themselves, and us poor tenants have been left at their mercy on the decision not to pass the saving onto us

If your gas and electricity are included within your rent, why are you having to feed a private meter with coins?
OP says only the gas heating  is included in the rent but it would be interesting to know how much electricity the £1 or £2 coins buy .
In the past I have checked these on my rounds and taking into account no daily standing charges of 48 p a day he/she may be on a fair deal if it was nt for not being in the energy price guarantee reduction
So OP, can you see exactly what £1 or £2 coin buys you in kwh s ( 1 unit on the meter is a kwh ) .I pay 33 p for my 1 kwh but also pay 48 p a day standing charge .

At the moment I am using 4 kwh s a day which costs me £1.32 a day plus 48 p making daily total of £1.80 .
But then up to April I am getting £67 a month reduction
I'm not sure about the price per kWH or the standing charge (it says a standing charge can be programmed into the type of meter I have if they want), but nowadays it costs me around £1 in electricity per day.

Which may not seem a lot but that's for a tiny 1 bedroom flat with me at work all day until 5pm and then at my gf's house most evenings.

Bearing in mind the gas heating I have is factored into my rent, so I'm effectively still paying for it through rent increases instead of directly, but unable to have access to any help like those with direct contracts with energy companies.

This energy scheme is another unfair idea that leaves out some of the poorest and may even allow the landlords to reap the benefits if they are getting the payment themselves

£1 a day electric is about 1 days sc ave c46p until Apr 1st and 1.5kWh at discounted epg ave c34p.

Cooking by oven, washing machine, quick electric het shower etc would use 1-1.5kWh - i.e. that sort of level for instance.

A modern efficient  undercounter fridge might use 1/3 kWh/day

    Tvs c70-100W per hour

    It soon adds up.

My summer lows are around 5-8kWh.

2+kWh (70p) of that for electric hot water tank though  - is that included in your rent.

    Discounted EPG rates - that's £2-£3/day.

They will not have pocketed it. They are not allowed to sell on energy at a profit, but they can cover their costs, so it would have reduced your costs overall, but the £400 would have only reduced the cost proportionately across all properties.
