Cheapest option for data roaming on USA holiday

I am travelling to the USA next month for 3 weeks and my current provider (ID Mobile) don't include the States as one of their free roaming countries. Fortunately my phone is unlocked so I could get a sim card temporarily for another network, but which one offers the best value for money? I won't be using it to make/receive calls, but will be using the data.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think that any UK provider offers free roaming in the US.
Is using Wifi (cafes, hotels etc.) viable?
If not 3 PAYG with an addon package  traditionally worked out cheapest for me but you would need to check the current situation & for your anticipated bandwidth needs.
You can buy a local sim (make sure that it works with your phone, presumably GSM), unless you have an US bank account though it will need to be prepaid - iirc Walmart is ~$25.
  • Don't really want to rely on wifi especially as some of the places I'll be staying are fairly remote.

I've ordered a payg sim from 3g, as it seems their data can be used in the USA 'for free'. Lycamobile also seems to be option.

There are a number of three 1month options depends how much data you think you need

    Cheapest is £3 for 1GB

    We got 16GB £10

If planning multiple trips one of the one off payment 12m or 24m might be better.

That only really works out reasonable if going multiple times in 2 years or have massive data needs in the extra countries supported

Much cheaper options around for UK and Europe.
