Post Office Bank (Capital One) credit card-making a payment(s) to clear balance using online banking

Attempting to make a payment to Post Office Bank (Capital One) credit card using nationwide bank mobile app.
I had a look on Post Office Bank (Capital One) credit card statement. It has account number and sort code. But the name of the payee is not clear.
It say's provide your bank with 'Capital One's details....' then goes on to list the account number and sort code.
When it came to entering these on nationwide app. I entered 'Capital One' (without quotes) for payee first. The nationwide app checked the name, account number and sort code then said no match found. I then entered 'CapitalOne' (whtout quotes). That wasn't found either.
Would have figured the payee name is a key bit of information to provide customers. yet it's not on the statement.
I've now made a payment for £1.00 with payee name 'Capital One'.
Anyone know the exact payee name? Is it on the post office website? I cannot see it anywhere.
edit: I suppose I could pay using debit card as an alternative. Still curious to know what the exact payee name is, so others can enter it when making payments and get exact match (if that is possible).
edit2: I'm aware that the name does not matter when it comes to payment going through. It's only used by nationwide to check it against the account number and sort code. Still it'll be good to see confirmation.

payee name is irrelevant to paying, it's only for confirmation of payee. Which post office bank/capital one might not support.

You must have been typing your post and posted your comment as I added the above as an edit!
Are you sure "post office bank/capital one" does not support confirmation of payee? Seems it's a guess.
Anyway, it's odd that credit card statements by most (all??) financial institutions don't contain the Payee name. It can't be because they don't all support the confirmation of payee!

It doesn't matter what the Payee name is mine for Capital One Is "Cap One CC" All that maters is that you have the correct sort code and account number and in the Payment Reference section your 16 digit card number. If you don't have the 16 digit card number as the payment reference capital one won't know what account to credit a payment that's been made too.Its the way its always worked and they won't change it because you simply don't like it.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0

There is no confusion about adding 16 digit card number as reference.
I have not said I do not like it, so change it. That's something you've inferred. I don't care either way.
Just curious as to why even after the introduction of confirmation of payee system, the statements haven't been updated to reflect the change, so customers don't have to go through with the prompts 'We could not confirm...are you sure you want to make this payment".
edit: How are you aware that with your's it's "Cap One CC"? did you see or hear it somewhere? Then how is it "it's the way it's always worked"?
I will check that payee name by setting up a new payee with another bank or delete the payee on Nationwide bank and set up a new payee with the same details.0 -
How are you aware that with your's it's "Cap One CC"?Its because that's the name I gave the payee when I set it up, I could have called it Bananas or Pink fluffy rabbit if I'd have chosen to.I personally think you're to hung up on Payee name, as long as the payment you've made reaches its destination then thats all that matters!!Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0

Try a debit card payment, even a token one, and see where your bank app / statement says the money went?
Then use that as payee....1 -

Pink Fluffy Rabbit wouldn't make much sense when trying to identify it next time around!.
As I've told you in previous post (seems I need to repeat for anything to get through), if the payment process confirms the payee then customer does not need to confirm the prompts 'we could not confirm the ....are you sure you want to make the payment'.
It's not all about the outcome, it's the experience too!!. you may want to reflect on that!!
edit: Ability to confirm payee would act as a line of defence against phishing emails. Those frequenting these forums and generally savvy with financial matter would know not to click on email links to pay their credit card. there will be one or two that aren't aware and does it. Then the confirmation will be useful. I suppose you can just tell them it's their fault for clicking on the link.
Well, then lets get rid of confirmation of payee all together and blame the victim. Problem solved!0 -

40-02-50 sort is actually a HSBC one as well.
Best bet send £1 & see if it gets there. If it does then you know it's good for more ££.
