Kings coronation bank holiday?

So is this another one of those days like the funeral which amounted too, “We’re having a day off, we’re not paying though but you can have the day off if you want but it’s coming out of your holiday entitlement” so basically included in your 28 days entitlement or will it be 28 days +1 meaning 29 days. A hell of a lot of the country only get 28 days including bank holidays meaning this would be useless, you’re not really getting an extra day off.

Your legal entitlement is to 28 days paid holiday to be taken when your employer chooses. There never has been a legal entitlement not to work on a bank holiday.n1guy said:So is this another one of those days like the funeral which amounted too, “We’re having a day off, we’re not paying though but you can have the day off if you want but it’s coming out of your holiday entitlement” so basically included in your 28 days entitlement or will it be 28 days +1 meaning 29 days. Anything more than that is a contractual matter between you and your employer.3 -
...and a great many get bank holidays in addition to their specified holiday entitlement, so they'll be happy.n1guy said:So is this another one of those days like the funeral which amounted too, “We’re having a day off, we’re not paying though but you can have the day off if you want but it’s coming out of your holiday entitlement” so basically included in your 28 days entitlement or will it be 28 days +1 meaning 29 days. Those who have bank holidays included in their annual leave entitlement will also be happy if they are royalists and want to watch events, but might otherwise have been unable to book the day as leave because lots of their colleagues also want that day off.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -

They won't because the coronation is on the Saturday before2 -

If you have the time to spend a day watching that then you can't be that desperate for time off.n1guy said:

Okay so we shouldn’t watch it then and should all be working right? Even though it’s on a Saturday?Ath_Wat said:

Many, many people work Saturday! Shift workers (as I used to be) work 1800:0600 over week-ends and bank holidays. Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!0

Are watching a coronation or working your only two choices? Seems a bit limited. I'm sure there are other things you could find to do if you had to.n1guy said:
