I have £102k in NSI ISA, but I haven’t t added anything to it, in this tax year - I am not sure, how to go about things -
I have been told, that I can open, an ISA with say - Virgin, for this year and ask to transfer Half of NSI iSA into it, then pay in this years Max Allowance into it…but can I also open another ISA, with say Leeds Building Society and just transfer, the other half, of the NSI ISA, into it, without adding anymore money into it, until next tax year ?
or am I only allowed to open 1 ISA per year ?
NSI have just increased their rates to 1.91%, but I know you can get a lot more, and I am hoping, to carry on saving with the ISA, for retirement. I do have other savings as well, to make use of my Personal Allowance.
Thank you

Yes exactly right, open another isa with A with say half and B with the other half and add this years ISA allowance to either A or B. Entirely correct.
If you want to be rich, never, ever have kids

To put it simply, you can open as many ISAs as you like, but you can only pay new money into one of each type of ISA per year.2

What you posted is correct and you're probably aware but FTAOD:flow2 said:I have £102k in NSI ISA, but I haven’t t added anything to it, in this tax year - I am not sure, how to go about things -

You can pay in this year's allowance straight away, don't have to do the transfer first.
And in your example, you ask Virgin and Leeds to do the transfers from NSI.

If you wished, you could part transfer from a previous year or years ISA to to any number of new providers.
For example, you might choose £52,000 to XY Building Society, £25,000 to AB Bank and £25,000 to CD Building Society.
You might then choose to pay your full current tax year's subscription to any one of those or indeed a completely different provider FG Bank.
But if you want to transfer the current year's subscription from FG Bank to any other provider, you must transfer the whole (until next tax year when it can be split between several providers if you so desire).0 -
Thank you for all your replies, I thought I had understood things, but wasn’t too sure and I don’t like the idea of having more than the £85 k in one account, just in case something happens, that’s why it was all in NSI - but as the rates are rising everywhere, it’s time to move it and gain a bit more tax free Interest !0
