Best energy app to show usage

Anyone have any recommendations for apps to show energy usage? I’m with British Gas. I don’t have an in home display as I was told by British Gas that they don’t provide these in new builds now but I could request one but then went on to tell me that they are having stock issues. The British Gas app is supposed to have usage data but it rarely works, at first I thought it was my meter having issues but then I downloaded the Hugo app and I can see my usage on that. I don’t really like the Hugo app though as it doesn’t give live data, only the previous day (or week or month).
Are there any third party apps that can show live usage?

ive not heard of one. we like the bright app but it only updates in the early hours of the morning i think. and i dont know if the in home display is instant (someone was saying on another thread its delayed by half an hour but i dont know if i misunderstood that?). for instant use i think you can get different types of energy monitors that someone on here will know more about.
i'm not at all recomending them but a quick google brought up these people you can apparently buy a ihd from. but it looks like there £50 so i'd say not worth it even if comparable with your smart meter. you can buy at least 5 plug in energy monitors for that and have a better idea of whats actually using the power and how much (and be able to turn things on and off with your phone).

Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.1 -
To get live data an IHD or CAD has to be connected to the comms hub via the secure Zigbee Home Area Network. Apps such as Loop or BRIGHT get their data in the same way as your supplier: they carryout a daily data pull. Smart meter communications hubs are a bit like mobile phones. They are connected to the network but no data passes until a call/request is sent out.
I suggest that you look at the Hildebrand IHD/CAD. Hildebrand is a Registered DCC User and it can send out its devices pre paired to your secure communications. It provides real-time data which then populates the BRIGHT app. Note: gas real-time data comprises 30 usage updates (kWh).4 -

As well as Hugo I use Greenly and Loop. Loop is similar to Hugo but claims to be a bit more real time. Greenly used to work OK but stopped working about the end of August and I've not had any response from them.
EDF can't update my IHD for the current gas tarrif so this is why I use these apps.0 -
I didn’t realise I could buy an IHD, I thought they were specific to the energy supplier. Make me wonder why British Gas are having supply issues if you can buy them yourself.Suppliers choose from a menu of approved devices. Meter and device manufacturers build; test and certify their meters and devices for use on the DCC network. The same manufacturers are responsible for firmware updates.
Chameleon offers its IHDs to all suppliers but it also offers a variant to domestic consumers called the IVIE. This device can also be delivered pre-paired to the communications hub. Both Hildebrand and Chameleon will let you move their devices to a new home: they just unpair it and re-pair it to the new hub. All communications hubs can have a maximum of 4 IHDs or CADs paired to them.1 -
