What compensation could I be entitled to? Can I get my money back?

They seem to be implying that the destination account was supposed to be another account held by them. Otherwise, the bank would probably assume that that is what happened, unless the OP could prove that it wasn't them who altered the recipient details.CardinalWolsey said:.
Finally, the only other option I can think of is that someone has hacked the solicitors email, and has sent an email to the OP purporting to be from the solictor, and instructing them to remit funds to a different account. But no mention of this within the OPs posts either.0 -
You still haven’t answered my question, have you exchanged on your purchase yet? This could potentially be far more of a problem than the lost deposit and cost you several times what you’ve already lost. If you have exchanged you need legal advice right now.licha4531 said:Not sure how this constitutes trolling, or quite what is suspicious about it.New poster, yes. I’m afraid I don’t know why the person responsible has chosen to do things the way they have. But yes it was a scheduled transfer from Bank A to Bank B.I realise the actual worst case is I won’t get the money back, but I’m also seeing cases where banks are reimbursing customers so I’m assuming my chances are ok? I don’t what kind of timeframes we’re looking at though. Investigations are ongoing, and of course the bank are offering no guarantee (totally understandable).0 -
If it was the deposit for a house it would be a large amount.
How was it to be transferred?
Faster payment?
CHAPS?0 -

Is the bold in reference to the fraudster?
A couple of us have asked which banks, as some are part of a scheme "Voluntary Authorised Push Payment Scam Code", but not all banks are signed up to this.
Even then there is no guarantee that they will. As it is all going to depend on how Acc "A" was accessed & where from.
