Fiven that the thread is from November, one would think (or at least hope) that if there were anything dodgy about it, the banks would know about it, and Amazon.lux.uk would now be on a blacklist.

    Hi ,
today I received an unexpected refund to my bank account, it was only £12.08 but I'm not due any refund and the refund came from Amazon.Lux.UK which is not the real amazon.. my bank account is not even linked to amazon
so I'm wondering, should I worry about this?  I already contacted my bank , the said sometimes a customer could enter a wrong digit and it could be a mistake.. but the fact that retailer name doesn't sound legit worries me.. anyway I canceled my debit card just in case.. is there anything else I could do? I just worry they might have my bank details and they were just testing the account.. I don't know
Hi borderline. Did you ever find out what was going on with the transaction? I have received a refund of £0.01 from AMAZON.LUX.UK. I haven't bought anything from Amazon for months, and there is nothing in my Amazon account saying they have refunded me. My bank's advice is to keep watching my account to see if anything else suspicious happens! The only thing that comes up when you Google AMAZON.LUX.UK is the thread. I'm concerned someone has my bank details and is testing out my account or something.
No nothing, I kept the refund, nobody claimed anything back, I guess it was a mistake on their behalf . I was worried too. But just in case, keep an eye on your account too

The same has happened to me this morning, which is how I have found this thread. £0.01 credit to my Lloyds bank account, with the description as Amazon.Lux.UK. I'm also suspicious that it is a new way of testing out accounts before trying to take money.

Should have added that Amazon don't have my bank account details. I always pay them by card.

Only way they could take money would be via DD, that is the only way with account details.
    Easy to claim back.

I don't know if they still do this but paypal used to verify your bank account by depositing a small amount and asking you what the amount was.

If they refund money to a debit card, surely that would appear as a refund in your current account.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

I had a £0.01 payment this morning from amazon.lux.uk and thought it looked like a test payment. I signed up for Amazon Associates last week so I thought it might be that, and then saw on BlogTechTips.com that Amazon Associates makes payments from "amazon.lux.uk" (in the bloggers case, it was via another system called Payoneer, which I guess has some similarity to PayPal).

Unfortunately we know that sometimes the name that appears isn't truly legit, but after being initially startled by my payment I'm now cautiously optimistic that this does relate to my Amazon Associates account. Hopefully yours has a legit connection too!

  • If anyone does come across this post in the future it is Amazon associate payouts.
the 0.01 must be a test they do on their own to confirm the money arrives in an account. I then received the correct payout that matches what my associates payout from the same Amazon.Lux.uk account afterwards.
