  • Tapo P110 is very good. A smart plug with Alexa interactivity enabled and a power monitor too.

Seconding the Tapo - look for a target price of around £10 - and it is definitely the P110 you need as that is the one that is a combined smart plug and has energy monitoring too. Makes far more sense IMO to have one that is a smart plug too though - and especially allowing that it comes at a similar price to those that are only monitors!

We have the LowEnergie one, perfectly happy with it.  The only times I wish it had a smart function are for the washing machine and tumble dryer, as those are in the outhouse and I can't always walk the extra few m to check it after every cycle.  But if I were physically capable, that would not be an issue.

However smart plugs have a life after monitoring whereas this won't, it will just be of occasional monitoring use still.

I use Tenda SP9's, the pair were £18 on Amazon but the price fluctuates obviously. I like the app layout on my phone, it's similar enough to the Bright app showing energy used right now, or over hours/days/months etc, which I like.

It also has the ability to use them as general smart plugs, turning things on/off via a timer, the app, or Alexa, which is very handy. Plus there's a holiday mode where it can turn things like lights on sporadically during set times so it looks like people are home when you are actually away.

Another vote for the Tapo. We already had a couple of the P100's (same as the P110 but no energy monitoring - be careful if you order from Amazon because they sometimes have them both under the same listing) and a few of their RGB smart lights. Pretty satisfied with the ecosystem in general.

  • Thank you for responses.  Yes, it was a bit confusing, took a while to identify the correct one

The Tapo P110 is £22 on Amazon.  The Argos ones are all sold out with the nearest store with them in stock 100 miles away!

The Tenda SP9 is £12.99 on Amazon.  Is it worth paying the extra for the Tapo?

Worth checking Currys as they often have stock (but varies by location)
  • The Tapo P110 fluctuates a lot on Amazon, leave it in your basket and keep an eye on it and it will almost certainly drop within the next week, even if just for a day. Mine were £9.99 but had been a lot higher in the days before and weeks after, I got my Mum one a few weeks ago, again at £9.99. If I were you I would wait for Amazon to have stock again as it is currently only in stock with third party sellers.

Yes - this! I got mine from Curry's for £9.99 but in fact it was back at the same price and with stock showing on Amazon the day after I committed to ordering elsewhere.

Ah, I wasn't aware that the price changes!  I've popped it in the basket and will monitor.  Hoping Argos will get some back in stock as well.
