Pensioners cost of living payment

I don't think anyone has worked out what decides when the payment is made. For example my surname and the first letter of my NI number are both very near the end of the alphabet (Y and W) but I got paid on 8th November last year and I think it's always been sometime in November, never December.ericthesanddune said:Turned 66 a few days before the 25th September so just scraped in for the 500 quid, and the letter states that the payment will be made by November or December..and st the latest January 13th 2023…what I want to know is who decides who gets paid in which month? Why not all on the same date? What is the meaning of life?
Great that you just made the deadline date!2 -
The day the pension is paid is dependent on the last two digits in the NI number not the letters. Mine is paid on Fridays as I have a high number, and I haven't yet received a letter so maybe they are sending them out in the same order.GaleSF63 said:

Hi, I have read the above posts and the .gov.uk website in particular" "Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride said:
We want to do everything we can to support pensioners who are often the most exposed to higher costs. That’s why we’re providing all pensioner households with an additional £300 on top of their Winter Fuel Payments to heat their homes and stay warm this winter.
My wife and I are both pensioners claiming our state pension. We have both received the £250.00 winter fuel payment. Is out household (i.e. between us) entitled to a additional £300.00 pensioner cost of living payment. The winter fuel payment office says we are not as the pensioner cost of living payment is included in the winter fuel payment we have received? Mel Stride seems to be saying we are " additional £300 on top of their Winter Fuel Payment". Please explain. Thank you

WFP is £200 per household for a 1 or 2 person household, you get an additional £300 per household COL payment. So £500 for a single occupant household or £250 each for 2 people. 3 people would normally get £100 each or £250 each this year.jslpacka said:Hi, I have read the above posts and the .gov.uk website in particular" "Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride said:We want to do everything we can to support pensioners who are often the most exposed to higher costs. We have been getting £100 each, usually in November, but last year my OH turned 80, so he got £200 and I got £100.
The additional £300 pensioner payment was split into £150 each, added to that, and paid at the same time, so OH got a total of £350 and I got £250.
We each received only one payment, and we always get a letter each.0
