PIP letter - We have now have all the information we need to make a decision

My son is 16 and I am his appointee. He has not had any telephone assessment. A letter arrived today saying "we now have all the information we need to make a decision".
He has been on high rate DLA for 8 years. If I ring, will they know the outcome already ?

It sounds like no further assessment is necessary and that it is now down to a Decision Maker to take a decision at the DWP based on evidence they have. I would take a punt that decision may take weeks (others may have a good handle on current timescales).

Unless you wanted to obtain a copy of independent evidence they acquired (if any) such as the advice from the assessment company (they can give advice without an assessment and sometimes will where forms well completed and good evidence supplied) then probably not worth calling.

Decision can take up to 12 weeks from getting all the information, official statistics say average is two months.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • Looks like a long wait. Forms were sent in July

I don't understand why the continue to send such a pointless letter. All it does is cause more anxiety and they could save postage by not sending those silly letters.
  • my husband forms was sent back for August and he got a phone call saying she had made her decision and she has awarded him his high mobility (which he should of been getting already) hospital and that was shocked he didn’t have it in the first place.
Hope you get this for your son

I got a text on the 9th of this month pretty much saying they hadn't forgotten me, paperwork still to be reviewed and that I may still need an assessment, this morning I got my decision through by letter - Enhanced for both as before but as an ongoing award and no contact before 2032.

Review form was sent back and received by them mid August, when I received the text on the 9th, I got settled in for the long wait.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

The letter isn't pointless.  It's informing the claimant or their appointee that the claim is being processed and saving them the need to chase it.

I disagree, all it causes is more anxiety.
