We were booked via Lastminute.com to fly with Wizzair from Gatwick to Larnaca on 3rd June 2022. We checked our bags in and then discovered a text from them saying our flight had been cancelled! No apology! We had no help from Wizzair We struggled to get our bags returned. We then had to rebook return flights with BA from Heathrow later that day costing £1800. We got a taxi from Gatwick to Heathrow costing £110! I have tried to contact Wizzair but their phone nos. do not work even for their headquarters in Budapest. They have not replied to the 2 on line forms requesting my payment to them be returned. Lastminute.com have said that it is not their problem and I need to contact WizzAir and simply sent the same phone no that does not work.II have been trying to get my money back since June. It is a scam and both companies have provided a very poor customer care service. I would not recommend using them. Has anyone any idea what I can do to try to get my money back, please?

If this was a flight only then Lastminute.com are correct to refer you to the airline.
Look on the WizzAir website for information to the process for claiming for the cancelled flight and if EU261 compensation is payable for the short notice cancellation.
There will also be another claim form to complete for your travel costs to LHR and for the new replacement flight.
Forget calling. You need to follow the process and complete the online forms and upload receipts for expenses. Don't expect immediate responses. It could be 30+days.0 -
Your claim should NOT be for a refund but for re-routing. The airline should have made the booking for you but since you could not contact them you yourselves bought new tickets and a taxi transfer. Wizz should meet the cost of these, but of course will retain your original payment.
If your BA flights arrived significantly later than your original scheduled arrival time then you might also be due compensation from Wizz.

When dealing with Wizzair expenses for a group of travellers you also need to give them signed letters from each individual passenger giving permission for you to receive the money on their behalf .If you requested a refund you won’t receive the expenses of the new flights that you had to book . You are entitled to choose between a refund OR the expense of re-routing NOT BOTH.It’s also possible that Wizz Air have automatically refunded120% of the original fare in airline credit - rather than cash . Have you checked your account to see if this is what they have done ?Unfortunately as you are finding out the hard way - it’s often a more complicated and lengthy process to obtain refunds, compensation & expenses when a third party has been used to buy the tickets.0

If it's been significantly more than 30 days (which it has), you need to call the telephone number for pre-existing bookings, which can be clearly found on the website. LM may need to do this unless your Wizz account was used.Carsley said:

Just out of interest, what is the claim status showing as at the moment in your Wizz account? It should have been responded to by now.....💙💛 💔0
