easyjet change of policy

easyjet have always allowed you to cancel or change free of charge for any changes to a flight time in excess of 2 hours- beware recently they have changed this policy. mine has been moved by 6 hours in Feb which isn't suitable at all and when I have challenged it as over 2 hours they said they have given me enough notice and tough basically. so they could move flights if you have just booked a weekend meaning you then only really get a day there. you book based on flight times - what if you were attending an event or something and new times don't suit? Just book knowing they have changed their policy.

If this is flight-only booking then I believe Easyjet use(d) 5 hours as a significant change allowing refund - which matches EU261/UK261 regulations.

If a package holiday (flight +hotel) then commonly 12 hours is used as measure for significant changes1 -
Thanks- sadly due to Brexit as Easyjet are licensed in the UK they no longer have to abide by the EU ruling. No doubt the UK has no rulings so can do as they please! I will be booking with Ryanair moving forward o ensure protection.0

The United Kingdom adopted EC261 into UK law and can be found here: The Air Passenger Rights and Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 (legislation.gov.uk) So UK airlines such as easyJet have to abide by the equivalent UK legislation to EC261, as do any airlines operating flights out of the UK.
@Caz3121has correctly pointed out that EC261 only gives rights to cancellation/refund if a flight is moved by 5 hours or more. If easyJet used to offer this option after a 2 hour time change then that was their choice, and they are free to change that.
Ryanair will also only allow you to cancel after a time change of 5 hours: Refund Policy – Ryanair Help Centre1
