Not for gaming. What's the best value tablet that isn't ipad please? I'm liking to buy my first tablet. Mostly for browsing and perhaps watching movies sometimes and music. Browsing is what I do mostly and just tired of the small fonts and screens of phones but don't want a whole laptop as I still have one.

I use a Huawei phone and love it. Used IPhone and Samsung phone in the past.

Best value is probably the Amazon Fire Range, especially if you can wait for the black Friday sales.

Lenovo also do some decent ones and Samsung do some but typically more expensive.
  • Thanks. Was hoping a Huawei would do. Shall start looking into Amazon Fire. Thanks.

I have a Fire, mainly for watching stuff whilst on the treadmill, and it is great for the price. But one thing to remember about the Fire is that it doesn't have the full range of apps available from the likes of Google Play Store or the iPad. You can "sideload" apps to it if you need.
  • Noted. Thank you
  • I got  fire 10 tablet in the last Amazon sale. It does everything you have specified plus it'd you Google you'll find website's describing how you can very easily convert it to an ordinary Android tablet so that you have Google play to get still the stupid you want. I did this and private took 15  mins.
  • Neocore E2 about £120 for a 32 GHz model, it is an Android tablet but is also British built and has the facility to upgrade it's memory via a micro usb slot. After years of iPad ownership I got fed up with the constant iOS updates which eat into the memory thus reducing it's life. iPads are very expensive so after much research I discovered the E2. It will do all that you descibed.AfterTwo months of constant use I recomend this tablet as a good alternative to Apple iPads. Check out the spec of the E2 you will be surprised,

Looks like a solid product at a good price. It may be "designed" in the UK but it isn't built in the UK.

Believe that should be 2GHz, the storage may be 32GB,  it's pretty hard to tell what it actually is.

The 32Gb is also storage, not memory. It has 3Gb of memory and that is fixed, you can't change that. Most Android tablets have MicroSD card slots to allow you to increase the amount of storage in them.

The 2Ghz is talking about the processor speed and nothing to do with memory at all.

Overall the spec isn't bad for the price, it does say the version of Android is 10 or above, so assume 10 then its a few versions behind but not bad in tablet terms, but what you don't get to understand from their website is their commitment to update that over the 2 year warranty period. Although battery is only covered for 6 months unless you can prove it was a manufacturing fault (as one of the exclusions)

Its not really even British designed, its basically one of the boilerplate white label designs out of China by the looks of it. It may be a British registered company, but thats about the limit design wise. It could be a bonus from a support perspective though and dealing with the warranty as a UK based company.

Its an Amazon Fire competitor and not really an iPad competitor. Its for basic tablet use (web browsing, email, streaming etc) and should be pretty decent at doing that.

    Certainly worth considering.
  • Thanks for the suggestions. They're helpful. I'm still looking.
