I tend to buy veg frozen as it keeps for a lot longer than fresh, but tinned potatoes, sweetcorn, tinned peas & carrots are ok. I eat them when camping. Tinned toms, garlic paste, tomato puree & a tin of tomatoes makes a simple pasta sauce. Then there’s the good, old favourite of soups. Also, some tinned “meals” are actually without chemical ingredients, like Tesco’s tinned curries.4

Tinned meat and fish, tinned beans very healthy.
For example: 1 tin corned beef, potatoes, onion, veg, grated cheese + 1 tin baked beans = cheap healthy and nutritious meal for 4, and cheap.
Not at all sure about tinned fruit - full of sugar (even if its natural) = unhealthy.5 -
One of my very favourite meals, which I dont make any more was
1 tin chesswoods creamed mushrooms
1 tin tuna
I small tin sweetcorn
Cooked pasta.
Heat it all together. Surprisingly very tasty.
I cant get the mushrooms any more.
You can make a really nice pate with baked beans and marmite.
Tinned green lentils in a tomato sauce make a great vege moussaka filling.
Tinned evaporated milk makes a great rice pudding.
Mixed beans and a vinaigrette make a great salad and additional bits can be added.
Mayo makes a great addition to mash if you dont have milk or butter.
Dehydrated potatoes thicken soups and sauces.
Seeds such as pumpkin and sunflower are a crunchy topping to a cauliflower cheese.

Cooked or tinned tomatoes have more lycopene than fresh ones.3

I almost always have tinned Heinz baked beans, green lentils, sweetcorn, Heinz spaghetti and kidney beans at home. Sometimes tinned tomatoes, but I prefer passata so I often have that instead.2

Tinned toms, tinned sweetcorn, tinned potatoes, tuna, salmon, corn beef, baked beans (tho some have a higher sugar content), all in my stores in case of ever needing to eat straight from a tin!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?3

I adore tinned Kippers, topped with a poached egg - a very healthy mealI tend to eat a lot of tinned fish - sardines, mackerel etc. An extremely cheap way of getting oily fish in the dietTinned beans - very healthy. All tinned beans areTinned fruit, in natural juice is fine as well. Yes its full of sugar - all fruit is, but there again you arent supposed to eat lots of fruit anyway, but tinned fruit is better then no fruitWhen I was a nipper we only had tinned food, home freezers weren't affordable to most. I remember having frozen peas for the first time after growing up on tinned - and hated them. I still also prefer tinned carrots to this day5

Mmmmm, tinned mushy peas - love them, they're marrowfat peas and if you leave them whole they're even nicer 😁👍
