Yes, in the same way as there is healthy, and unhealthy, fresh food

Tinned vegetables by any chance (unless in brine - just why? I can add my own salt if I so choose!).Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!6

As with fresh food if you look at things as ingredients rather than meals. You want to find things which are not processed too much, so things like tinned veg, tinned potaotes, tinned fruit (preferably in juice not syrup) are all good. But then saying that it's all about balance and having tins or packets is very useful.

Tinned fish = e.g., salmon, tuna sardines etc.6

Within hours of being picked on the farms, many of the tinned fruit & veg arrive at the factories where they are washed, prepared, cooked, canned and labelled.
Meanwhile, FRESH fruit & veg are only beginning LONG journeys in lorries, boats etc. and crossing several borders to reach their final destinations.11 -
People are choosing tinned, canned food because of their durability, preservation. Also to some extends they might be a cheaper alternatives.Unless they do not have enough time for preparation, which occasionally happen to many people, they will need to do a long travel to get fresh food, why anyone would want to eat a tinned, canned food is beyond me.3

It's about balance.
Beans on toast is considered to be healthy.
Whole wheat pasta comes in long life packets.
Tinned tuna and tomatoes are highly nutritious.
Tinned fruit in juice
We have to store foods in some way, it's just a question of making the better choices.

I've always tried to have a variety of tinned & packet foods in the cupboard in winter. In the event of impending bad weather. even if you can get to the supermarket easily, the goods are flying off the shelves. Better to be safe than sorry.7
