    Does Octopus allow variable DD?
i thought so but i can't see it here https://octopus.energy/help-and-faqs/articles/what-payment-methods-do-you-offer/

    hopefully someone will confirm soon.
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.

    What's the Octopus app like?

Frankly, that seems to be the only issue for existing @BulbUK customers. Speaking as one of them, the fuel has continued to come through the pipes and will continue to do so

    End of.

It is not easily found on their site but in the T&Cs, it says this as the definition for payment method: "This could be standard direct debit, flexible direct debit or credits for a Prepayment Meter."

People are extremely unlikely to be stuck with any DD amount though as Octopus allow the customer a fair amount of control anyway.

Octopus definitely allows variable DD. I switched to them in April and was automatically put on it.

Yes. I switched an account over to it last month and had zero charged for September thanks to the credit on the account.

I expect it will be many months before anyone becomes an actual "Octopus customer"

Or given the OVO/SSE precedent - two years or more.

Better than the Bright app in my opinion.
  • I’m with Bulb.  I have never paid by direct debit and I won’t unless I’m forced to!  Instead I pay each month’s bill using my bank card.

I hope with Octopus it remains possible not to need a direct debit!
