Installing Solar PV
Options
If this isn’t the right area or there’s a thread running, feel free to direct me.
Like many I’m seeing a benefit in going down the domestic Solar PV and battery route.
I’ve seen lots of information on YouTube and online, so have an idea what I want. Problem comes with finding an installer.
Just had Project Solar round to quote, requested 90mins to measure and quote, which turned into 4hrs. Sales rep only had info on the roof panels and guarantees, nothing about the inverter or batteries. Even when calling the technical helpline they didn’t know much more. Wanted £28k and couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t sign up on the spot. Said he wouldn’t be able to come back if I decided to accept, despite being available 1day after requesting a quote.
Reminds me of a SafeStyle double glazing salesman from the 1990s.
Still need to find a quote and reputable installer.
I’m located in the North West of England.

You'll probably find a local firm that really understand what they are doing the best bet, and hopefully you won't get the strong-arm sales tactics. Whereabouts in the country are you - might help somebody make a suggestion?

You could read some of the posts in forum to give you some thoughts.

I would be inclined to report them to Trading Standards.0

It's like the bad old days of double glazing salesmen with all these green energy schemes.0

What size system was that for?
Don't let anyone come to your house without a quick quote over the phone/email.0 -

It is a big install but not sure why the panels are so lowly rated, 700-ish for the latest panels which will pick up some energy even under cloud (not a lot but more than the older panels). All depends on how much electric the OP is using whether the system will work for him and not sure what he is doing about heating as would expect a heat pump as well for that kind of loot. There is probably 20k worth of solar and battery in the quote inc fitting so eight grand for the salesman sounds about right.1
