Actually you can, it uses the same technique as open banking, just for a one time payment. I doubt it works with chase though.

I use this to pay my Halifax Clarity. You do not need to, in fact you cannot, enter the Halifax sort code account number when paying that way. You are right, Chase Bank is not one of the banks you can use for this payment method. I believe it is because they do not support Open Banking.

Offtopic, but does anyone know if you can send money directly to Chase Savings account from another bank? The savings account has its own sort code and account number so I assume it should work, but the same thing doesn't work for example with TSB savings pot, which also has its own sort code and account number but when I tried to sent money to it from another bank, it was declined.

    Yes, you can.
And vice versa. i.e. pay money directly from a Chase savings account to an external account.
Conveniently, payees are shared between all accounts.

People, did you know you can now have multiple current accounts with Chase? I just opened another one.
The only problem (at least for me) is, it seems like you can only have 1 debit card and switch accounts from which the money is debited when you make a card purchase.

When the 1.5% saver was made initially available, a few users accidentally opened extra current accounts instead, and so missed out on the interest for a while!

That's right. This option has been available since launch, and just one debit card is a bit of a hassle. If you have your extra current accounts with different banks, you get a debit card for each. Moving money between them is fast as they al do Faster Payments. To have the accounts at different banks also reduces the risks to be without money if there are any issues, such as the many Chase has been experiencing. The disadvantage is that it takes much longer to open extra accounts elsewhere, but that's just a one-off.

Yeah, with Chase it's not even a new application for any additional account, just choosing a name for it.
If they join CASS in the future, which I hope they will, I will have some 3-4 spare accounts to switch. :)

I didn't notice the option has been there since the launch.

I'm also wondering if they're going to start reporting those accounts to CRAs any time soon. Probably not until they start offering some credit facilities?
