Rent money missing - what to do?

Is this normally how you pay your rent? To stop any problems in the future it would be better to set up a bank payment system or give the landlord the money and stay as he counts it.
I think it may be the case for a bit going forward. I don't see my landlord that much though so may be tricky to be there as they take it.
As I have explained I'm so sure of my counting because the atm gave me exact amount and I put it straight in there when got home after counting it. And I literally never use cash for anything else.
What confused me even more was that landlord said he can recall potentially couting it once in the morning and it seemed fine but then counting later to write receipt and it was 20 light. I'm very confused.0 -

I wonder if the landlord miscounted it the second time?

Did yoo seal the envelope?
I would seal the envelope and sign across the flao so it would be obvious if anybody opened it.

All of this talk of bank issues, I suspect is complete nonsense. A much more likely explanation for cash is the landlord underdeclaring his income to HMRC.
