So it’s ok for you to suggest the plumber was dishonest with absolutely no evidence but not ok for your landlord to suggest you made a mistake?   Is this normally how you pay your rent?  To stop any problems in the future it would be better to set up a bank payment system or give the landlord the money and stay as he counts it.
I don't mean to acuse anyone since I don't know what really happened. I can be only sure of what I've done. And having receipts I'm sure of my own sanity. I don't want to look dishonest though but on other hand side I'm sure it was correct. I'm little bit annoyed landlord didn't just take it right away.
I think it may be the case for a bit going forward. I don't see my landlord that much though so may be tricky to be there as they take it.
Miscounting, even three times, or dropping a £20 between counting and putting it in an envelope doesn't make you insane.  It happens.
That's fair thanks. However if any of us dropped it it should be found somewhere on the floor or somewhere but it seems to have evaporated... we looked for it.

As I have explained I'm so sure of my counting because the atm gave me exact amount and I put it straight in there when got home after counting it. And I literally never use cash for anything else.

What confused me even more was that landlord said he can recall potentially couting it once in the morning and it seemed fine but then counting later to write receipt and it was 20 light. I'm very confused.

I wonder if the landlord miscounted it the second time?

No because they asked me to check and 20 was missing. In this case I don't understand what happended between first time and 2nd time they counted it.

    Did yoo seal the envelope?

I would seal the envelope and sign across the flao so it would be obvious if anybody opened it.

All of this talk of bank issues, I suspect is complete nonsense.  A much more likely explanation for cash is the landlord underdeclaring his income to HMRC.
I was thinking the same thing!
