Having a heck of a day - still working, DH 100 miles away at a funeral, going away first thing tomorrow and my brain is trying to tell me to get a takeaway (can't really afford it). Am only planning to make carbonara so it's not even that hard but I'm exhausted (I do have fibro, slipped discs and various other health conditions but even so). We're going away for a couple of nights from tomorrow so actually will be sick of takeaway/bought out food by the time we're back but still I'm whacked
Please motivate me to cook tea

You cant afford it, you already said.
plus you will wait longer for the delivery than for pasta to cook!Put a chair by the cooker and promise yourself a treat tomorrow instead.Often it’s actually starting that’s the difficult bit and once we get going it’s not so bad.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?4 -
Oh and fill the sink (if you don’t have a dishwasher) so you can put the stuff in to soak as soon as you dish up.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?4

Do you know - that's so true. I often go all funny and feel so overwhelmed and fuzzy I genuinely can't work out how to do what I need to do. So I just do as you say, fill the sink and say just chop the onion. And then once i chop the onion I know to put the pan on, oil in, onion in and then the next steps become clear. It's trying to work out how to do a whole thing at once.
Thank you

And if you cook it yourself it will be properly hot. If you order a takeaway in you’ll be eating something cold at midnight, or it will be delivered to your neighbours and you’ll be wandering the street trying to work out who’s got your tea.Any of that any help? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

It's helping
My veg bag has just arrived so I've that to put away first and no idea what state the 3 teems will have left the kitchen in for me - if it's clear it's fine if it's not then depends how much tidying/cleaning I need to do first

Thank youOften I suggest a starting point and she picks something else. It’s just a case of focusing in on the starting point rather than being overwhelmed with the whole idea.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?1 -
My youngest is just going through assessment for ADHD and ASD and I suspect I have elements of it too, all my cousins have it (only child so no siblings). I also have quite a difficult, currently stressful job so i do manage to function in the real world, it's just sometimes I feel like I use up all my functioning for work and by the time I'm home/have finished work I have none left!
Think it's just me - and being of a certain age where hormones wobble somewhat!
Thanks again, I'm just finishing work and about to go downstairs, take out what I need for tea from fridge if kitchen OK else will clear kitchen then do that then put veg box away. Then have a quick sit down with kids before going to put water on for pasta and will take it from there.

Your home cooked food is likely to be quicker (given what you are cooking), tastier, healthier and cheaper... the only downside is the washing up.
Just hope you aren't thinking of putting any cream in that carbonara!3 -
Don’t worry, I follow a true Italian recipe, don’t have pigs cheek so have to use bacon, then just 2 whole eggs, 3 yolks, 100g fresh grated Parmesan and some pasta water to help make a sauce.Although I am cheating and putting cavol Nero in as it needs used up, it IS Italian at least:eek::eek::eek: LBM 11/05/2010 - WE DID IT - DMP of £62000 paid off in 7 years:jDFD April20172
