Estimate bills for two years now with a real reading BG say I owe £900 instead of £57

Delighted that you've had a good outcome - well, better than feared at least. I've been keeping an eye on the thread to see how it panned out.
To add to what @400ixl said, BG only review and bill periodically - in my own case it gets woefully confusing as they perpetually under estimate my usage and keep reducing my DD and refunding my credit (and bill at odd intervals and then reissue bills) - so I've always kept a tight rein on it myself - I've had to. It was getting into a pickle through this chaos a few years ago that I educated myself about energy.
I also noticed recently that they stopped including the gas calculation formula on their bills, so if you don't know how to convert meter readings to bill amount, we'll be happy to help you with that.2
