How to anonymously collect money?

Hi all,
I need to collect some money in a non-organised crime kind of way. Maybe £150, max.

Some will pay in cash but others will have to send it electronically.
Is there a no-fee alternative to giving my full name and banking details for a bank transfer? I bank with First Direct fwiw.
Paypal comes to mind but it’s not clear if they would take a cut. If it’s a few pence I'm fine with that.

You'll need to explain why you are trying to collect money and if its the recipient or sender that should remain anonymous (or both)?
For a bank transfer they will have to have the sortcode/account number, obviously, name in theory is optional but these days if you dont enter the correct name then there are a number of extra checks to confirm you really want to transfer the money to reduce the number of people falling for scams.0 -
It’s the receiver - myself - who should remain anonymous. If the others are that’s fine too, but not crucial. If I could forward around a link that just says “contribute to the cause here” that would be ideal.0

I'm intrigued as to why you want to remain anonymous. Presumably the people who are donating are friends of yours, and they know what they're donating for? Giving out your account number, sort code and account name will not allow anyone to withdraw money from your account. We have similar things all the time at work when someone is collecting money for a leaving present, baby, whatever - they just put out an email with their bank details and we all chuck in a few quid.

There are various options for setting up an online collection such as go fund me and collection pot . com - but none are anonymous as far as I can see, and all charge a small fee. If you have a good friend that could front the collection maybe that would be an option - with them saying something like 'I've set this up to collect funds for reason XYZ - however I'm only the collector, and will pass on the funds accordingly once the collection is closed'.0

Would PayM work for you? I know FD have implemented it. But you would have to give out your mobile number. Though as I have never used it, i don’t know what other details might be required.0

Can you elaborate what you mean by a non-organised crime kind of way? Is that the same as organised crime?Debt Free: 01/01/2020
