  • Hello! 👋🏼

It’s Saturday which normally means swimming lessons at 9:15am but DD1 doesn’t have them now and DD2 is still ill (although much better), so we had a lazy start to the day ☺️

We decided to walk into town to have a mooch around and get some bits in. No holiday clothes caught our eyes so we went into Aldi to get some milk, sausage rolls and dinner for tonight (hunters chicken 😋) and then we went into Poundland to get some Jiffy bags & some treats for later when The Masked Singer is on 😁 Unfortunately their card machine wasn’t working, so I could only get the Jiffy bags. We went to Iceland for treats instead.

Walked home with the heavy bags to realise I forgot to get ham, cheese & toilet roll 🤦🏼‍♀️ D’oh! The girls were tired of walking so I agreed we would drive to Tesco. Ended up buying a wordsearch book for DD2 which has kept her entertained all afternoon!

I’ve done 2 laundry loads today - need to do a 3rd but it’ll have to wait until tomorrow as I have no room left to dry everything. This is when I miss having a garden & a washing line!
  • 2 more laundry loads done today 💪🏼 I’m all up-to-date! It’s the little things 😁

I decided to get all of my summer clothes out this morning and oh my goodness, there is so much! Embarrassing 🙈 In saying that, I need to get some sandals and an evening outfit or 2. I could also do with some more swimwear, but I don’t need much.

I ordered some sale items on Next’s website for DD1. I’m going to make her try everything on when she’s back here on Wednesday and I’ll return anything she doesn’t like or doesn’t fit her. That goes for the clothes I ordered the other day too. I tend to overbuy when it comes to clothes so I’m trying to not do that this time!

I’ve put some more items on eBay and I’ve wrapped the items that are due to finish soon. Any money I make will go towards my Very and Next accounts, as the orders on there were essentially bought on credit. My living room & bedroom currently look like mini warehouses 😂 I can’t wait to sell everything so that I have more space! And money 😉

DD2’s care bear from Smyths has been delivered so that’s 2 presents here that I need to try & hide for over 9 weeks 😂 I don’t have many hiding places. I need to get creative! Her Barbie trainers & pyjamas should be here in a couple of days too. I might wrap her presents once they’ve all been delivered, so at least she won’t be able to see what they are if she finds them!

I’m going to do some work now. It might be Sunday but there’s a big meeting tomorrow and I’d like to get ahead 😎
  • Evening all!

It’s been a busy start to the week. Work was a mixed bag but I left at 4pm as I had a few things to do before my ice skating lesson.

I sold one of DD1’s toys that she never played with. After eBay fees & postage I got £47.72 for it, so that’s cleared the Next account already 🙂 I’m not going to pay it until DD1 has tried on the clothes though, in case we need to return anything. I forgot that the order isn’t being delivered until Sunday so it’ll be next week when I make the payment.

I collected the Very order, so will make the girls try everything on when they’re next here. They’re now with their dad for a couple of days.

I had a very long chat during my lunchbreak with a lady about my potential dyslexia. She was very informative and lovely, but also an absolute chatterbox and didn’t want to get off the phone 😂 She’s sending me some information about ways of getting tested so I can decide which option is best for me. I also chased up the doctors as they still hadn’t sent the ADHD team the information they needed 😤 Hopefully they’ve done it now.

This is going to sound sad but I had budgeted £200.00 for petrol this month, & I had spent £188.41, so I went to put in £11.59 worth of fuel to make it to £200.00 🤣 I ended up putting £11.60 worth in though 🤦🏼‍♀️

I’ve just about thawed out from the ice rink. I think I’ll watch a bit of TV and then get an early ish night 😊😊
  • More eBay sales today meaning more towards the holiday clothes 😊 My FitBit went for £35.93 and I sold a pair of DD2’s boots for £8.29, meaning total sales this week so far is £90.94 🥳 I only need to find £28.14 and that’s the Very & Next orders paid for.

My bank account is looking healthy as it’s pay day, plus my child benefit went in yesterday. My wages were £17.19 less than my estimate when I first got told of my pay rise. Not terrible I suppose!

I need to try & reduce my supermarket spends in February as I went £70 over budget this month 😱 If I stopped buying so many sugary treats then I reckon I’d be under budget 😂 My sweet tooth is a problem!

I have paid the childminder for this month’s fees, plus I paid my pedicure lady as she came over tonight after work to sort out my poor neglected feet! I now have pretty toes 🥰 She doesn’t charge much at all so I’ve decided I’m not going to give up my pedis. It can be my little treat.

My River Island order was delivered today so all of DD2’s birthday presents are here. She’ll be back tomorrow so I need to hide them somewhere 😁

As February is a no council tax month I have transferred the amount to savings. So I have £113 in my emergency fund.

Right, I’m starving so off to get my dinner.

This week at work is brutal 😂 I don’t think I’ve ever been this busy! I’m actually looking forward to my sleep out on Friday night just so I can get a rest 🤪

Speaking of which, donations have hit the £400 mark now! I’m so proud of that amount!

My loan repayment went out today so the balance is now £5,109.45. My mortgage repayment also went out & that balance is now £76,780.55.

The girls tried on their Very, River Island and Monsoon clothes after I picked them up from the childminder’s and we are not returning anything, so I have sent £77.58 to Very, all paid for by my eBay sales 😊

I’m going to stick all my clean washing on the airer now, then get the girls into bed, and then I’m going to chill out on the sofa but I think I’ll be in bed early 😂😴😴😴
  • Hello! It’s been a few days since my last update as I’ve been so busy. My workload is a lot right now and I’m probably going to have to do all my month end tasks this weekend just to stay afloat 😱 Good job I don’t have the girls!

The sleep out was last night and my friend & I have raised £551… I’m so thrilled! It was extremely humbling, and I felt emotional thinking that sleeping outside are some people’s reality every single day. I had a nice conversation with the chairman of the charity and I am going to try and do more to support them. One person was snoring for around 7 hours which I couldn’t get my head around as it was so cold and uncomfortable! I wish I was like that 😂 I didn’t sleep but I didn’t expect to. The charity kindly gave everyone hot drinks throughout the night & we all got breakfast this morning, served by some ex colleagues of mine funnily enough. They’re religious and very charitable 😊

When I was driving to the sleep out my friend commented about a noise she could hear coming from my car. She said I need to get it in the garage ASAP 😫 She’s really knowledgeable when it comes to cars so I trust her judgement. My car needs a service so I’ll probably end up doing the 2 together. This is likely to cost a lot of money so I will no doubt be using the council tax money that’s sitting in savings to help pay for it, and maybe I’ll even need to borrow more money. Really hope I don’t need to do that 😢

I went out for my friend’s birthday on Thursday night & it came in under budget as I only ordered a cheesecake. It was at a new dessert place and it was very nice! The 3 friends came back to mine afterwards for hot drinks as the place was closing & they didn’t want to go home 😂

Today I plan on staying inside all day as I’m very tired 😊 Hope you’re all ok x
  • Hello! It’s been a busy day. I did the food shop, got the poorly car cleaned, went into town, dropped off some old coat hangers to a friend, saw the kids for a cuddle as I hadn’t seen them since Thursday and I’m not due to see them again until Wednesday, done 3 lots of laundry, housework, and work. Thank goodness I caught up on my sleep last night! 😁

Evri seemed to have delivered my Next order somewhere and I can’t find it 🤦🏼‍♀️ They’ve been doing this a lot recently. Hopefully a nice neighbour has it & will deliver it, otherwise I’ll call Next to let them know.

Sleep out donations are now at £630 😍 This amount will pay for 10 people to be put up in a hotel for one night when the weather gets bad ❤️

The Next order has been found 😊 A nice neighbour found it in the bin shed 🤦🏼‍♀️ These delivery drivers!! At least it’s here.

Bulb are in my bad books. My statement was a lot higher than usual & it turns out it was because they were using estimates, even though I have a smart meter 🙄 Their estimate for my electricity was 200 units higher than the actual read! I have submitted the correct readings now.

My dentist is also in my bad books 😂 This is turning into a rant! Not only do I pay £9.40 a month just so the kids and I can stay on their books (😡) but they started introducing deposits last year, which is fair enough, but it turns out they are allocating those deposits to treatments that don’t relate to it. So a hygienist appointment I had booked for next month now has no deposit linked to it, meaning I’m going to have to pay the full price. It’s so silly! Financially I’m no worse off but I didn’t realise that my appointment in December swallowed up that deposit. It means I’ve got to find another £35.25.

After I discovered this I called the dental practice I want to register with to see if I’m near the top of their list. Turns out I am 😃 can’t wait!

Work was busy today (when is it not?) and then I had my ice skating lesson. My usual coach wasn’t there so I had someone else who was nice! I was sweating by the end 😂

My poorly car is booked in for Thursday 🙈 Really hope it’s not expensive!

Your dentist is utterly outrageous @Pink_Butterfly! It might be worth checking that they're allowed to do this with the General Dental Council.  It sounds dodgy to me.  I had to report a dentist to them 20 years ago for taking people on as NHS patients, claiming NHS money for treatments and then charging patients privately for the same treatment; guess what, he'd done it before! The other partner in the practice then absconded to Scotland with a shed- load of cash!! Wonderful people...have subscribed.   You are doing brilliantly.   Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx
  • Thank you Humdinger1! I appreciate that. And thanks for letting me know about the General Dental Council as I had never heard of it. I’ve been going to this dental practice since I was about 3 years old and before the pandemic they were great. But then my dentist retired & they started making big changes like offering things like botox & fillers, and since then they’ve really gone downhill. I mean, £9.40 a month plus the cost of my treatments (as I’m private) throughout the year is a lot of money! And the girls should be completely free. So I’ll definitely look into that!

Bulb have re-issued my statement with the correct meter reads & my balance is now £63.31 better off 😊👏🏼

We had a big meeting at work today which was good. It was basically a performance update so a lot of people from other offices joined us which is always nice! I enjoy chatting to them all ☺️ They also fed us all which always goes down well! 😋

Tonight is going to be a relaxed one I think. I’ve been feeling a bit anxious but I don’t really know why so I just want to chill out 🙂
