  • The SVT that they have quoted in their most recent email is the cash payment London region cap.

Is that where you are and how you are paying?

34.09p is the Eastern region prepayment cap for electricity, but 10p doesn't match that for gas (it's 10.64p).

Then I think the SVT they should be offering you would be:

    33.15p/day & 35.80p/kWh for electricity.
    28.48p/day & 10.51p/kWh for gas.

Unless direct debit on receipt of bill is now counted as cash payment.

Thank you. I don’t even know what to do about it. Calling them doesn’t seem to help. Messaging is either ignored or just says something totally different and throws me off again.

you emailed your complaint on wednesday? i would say you really should give them at least a week if not 10 (working) days to reply to that and not keep going after different routes. theres a good chance all that will do is mean lots of people putting different notes on your account and making things more confusing for you and them.

as long has you have been clear in your complaint about the problem and what you want then when its all sorted they will refund and backdate any overpayments so theres no mad rush to get it sorted today., tho i know thats frustrating. and if they dont reply in 8 weeks then you can escalate it to the ombudsman who will look at it and put it right.
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.

Don't do anything. It says they will automatically reduce your rates. If you move onto the variable yourself you could be paying more in April.

Disappointed to say that I’ve had no response whatsoever from them.
I emailed on the 25th. No response.
found another email online on the 3rd but it bounced back.
Then found another and sent that ok but nothing. I honestly don’t know what else to do to sort this out. Speaking on the phone seems to be useless.

     Last update (hopefully)
got a call from SSE this morning. The Scottish call centre this time. The woman told me that my rates are set at my fix. I again had to point out that they had been reduced from 1st October. She said she would have to look into it and would email me the results.

Following on from our call earlier today, I would like to confirm your tariff prices for your account. From looking at your account I can confirm that your tariff prices for your electricity is 35.80 pence per kwh with the standing charge is 34.09 pence per day. For your gas it is 10.50 pence per kwh with your standing charge is 27.51 pence per day. The reason that the prices have changed is due to the energy price guarantee which was set by the government, this meant your fixed tariff had to be below the price guarantee which is why your prices changed. I do apologise that it has taken so long for the prices to be confirmed for you.”

I can’t confirm the standing charges till I get my bill in December but the electric is the wrong way round from what my app says and the gas is still slightly out.
I’m just gonna wait for my bill and decide from there if I contact them again. Bit of a shambles though.

Have you worked out if you'll be better or worse of overall with a higher s/c but a lower unit rate? What matters is the total cost per year We can't do that for you as we don't know your kWh usage.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
