New vodafone customer left without internet for 6 days what can i do

  • The wifi hotspot and router repeater is a good shout. I pay ~£6 a month for my mobile(sim only), get 4Gb i think, and it's rare that I ever get anywhere near the data limit on that, so I can't imagine me ever going up to a £20 plan just as a backup. I appreciate things go wrong, and the net can go down. It's just so infuriating when the company dealing with it is not only utterly incompetent but also quite rude at the same time and clearly doesn't care at all. It shouldn't take them this long to fix an issue at their end and they should be updating me regularly rather than me having to chase all the time and be put on hold for literally hours before being told the same stock responses. I believe the £5/£8 compensation a day is far too low to actually represent the disruption it causes and to make them pull their finger out.

Anyway, looks like another day unable to work and no doubt about to spend 1hr on the phone to Vodafone just to find out that absolutley nothing has been done

A suggestion, get a business contract if it's that important for your work
Does that really help?.  Plusnet net messed up an office move for us - they cancelled the order !  All they could do was to reissue an order to Openreach to attend

A similar thing happened to me a few years ago.

As you have already discovered, Vodafone are a complete nightmare to deal with if anything goes wrong. After a week of getting nowhere with them and much frustration I decided to go back to my old supplier. However that took another couple of weeks, so I was without my broadband and landline for more than 3 weeks.

I did manage to get a mobile broadband device and sim card free of charge from Vodafone, to get me back online temporarily.

However pursuing a complaint with them for monetary compensation proved to be a further waste of my time. Their complaints team were even more frustrating to deal with. I wasn't even entitled to the £5 a day automatic compensation, since at the time Vodafone were not signed up to that scheme.

Best to think of this experience as a lucky escape and move elsewhere.

Well, yes it does actually, because if the OP was on a business contract (and there are options for priority support as it were, so same day resolution - with suitable price tag of couse) and the OP  had priority repair it would have been fixed within whatever the support arrangements are.

For faults on domestic packages you have all the priority you get when you come to a set of traffic lights that have stopped working, and you'll just get kicked further back in the queue when something more important comes up.

Your scenario re: Plusnet would have applied to any provider if they'd cancelled the order by accident - place a new one with the Openreach.  That's all they can do.

One option for mobile data backup is to get a preloaded SIM that lasts for a number of months.  Amazon have a Three Data SIM for £35 for 24GB of data.  This does however last for 24 months.  Therefore it's available for the odd time that the internet goes down.  That works out at just under £1.50 a month.  That's the option that I've personally gone for.
