Buying & selling Unity non-standard build house with PRC-certified remedial work done

A survey on the house we're looking to buy flagged that it's an original Unity build (concrete slabs).

Seller has supplied the PRC certificate on full remedial works done in 2001 (brick walls added and cavity-wall brick extensions. Our conveyancer is checking existing mortgage offer with our lender, Halifax, but lending should hopefully be fine.

My questions are:

  • Should the seller/agent have made us aware it was nonstandard construction? The previous buyer pulled out for this reason. The agent and seller were of the opinion that because of the remedial works done, the house is no longer a Unity build so we didn't need to know!
  • Will we have any trouble re-selling the house?
  • Should we get an evaluation done in light of this finding?
  • Should we look at negotiating the price down? We offered full asking price.
  • Will this impact housing insurance - should we be looking into indemnity?
Any experience with buying/selling Unity housing with remedial works done, positive or negative, would be much appreciated before we invest in this as a family home.

Well as you are having doubts yourselves, I think the answer could be "yes"
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • Our doubts are pretty slight atm - we're very close to proceeding.

Our lender is happy to go ahead and insurers say it won't be an issue.

Still hoping to hear from anyone with recent experience of buying or selling a non-standard construction that had the necessary remedial work undertaken and certified.
